The Austrag Is the Wesensherkunft of the Onto-Theo-Logical Constitution

ID: ga11-austrag-as-wesensherkunft-of-onto-theo-logik Title: The Austrag Is the Wesensherkunft of the Onto-Theo-Logical Constitution Status: live Confidence: medium Claim type: structural Created: 2026-05-21 Updated: 2026-05-21 Sources: heidegger-ga11-identitat-und-differenz Wiki homes: onto-theo-logik, ontological-difference, ereignis

Claim

The Differenz thought as Austrag (the carrying-out that is simultaneously entbergende Überkommnis and sich bergende Ankunft) is the Wesensherkunft (origin of the essence) of the onto-theo-logical constitution. This is GA 11's distinctive contribution to the ontological-difference question — not the SuZ-operative difference (Sein/Seiendes as conditions of intelligibility), not the ZuS Es-gibt chain (Es gibt Sein / Es gibt Zeit), but the Austrag as the movement that generates onto-logical and theo-logical as correlative moments of one Geschehen. The Randbemerkung on p. 93 identifies the Austrag with Ereignis: "das Walten des Austrags: Ereignis."

Evidence

  • heidegger-ga11-identitat-und-differenz — pp. 83–89: the culminating pages of "Die onto-theo-logische Verfassung der Metaphysik" where Austrag is named as the Geschehen from which the ontological and theological constitutions of metaphysics arise.
  • Randbemerkung (93): "das Walten des Austrags: Ereignis" — Heidegger's own marginal identification of Austrag with Ereignis.
  • The Umeinanderkreisen (circling-around-each-other) of Ontologie and Theologie is attributed to the Austrag as its generated structure (pp. 78–79).

Counterpressure / Limits

  • The Austrag could be read as a phenomenological description of what happens in the onto-theo-logical constitution rather than as its Herkunft. On this reading, the Austrag does not originate the constitution but names it.
  • The Austrag-vocabulary is local to GA 11: it does not appear in the earlier SuZ-operative difference or in the later ZuS Es-gibt chain. This raises the question of whether it is a local vocabulary tied to the 1956/57 lecture-course context or a fundamental concept.
  • The marginal note identifying Austrag with Ereignis is Heidegger's own post-hoc gloss, not part of the lecture text; its evidential weight for the published argument is debatable.

Payoff

Distinguishes three stages in Heidegger's articulation of the ontological difference: the SuZ-operative stage (Sein/Seiendes as conditions of intelligibility), the GA 11-Austrag stage (the carrying-out that generates onto-logical and theo-logical as correlative moments), and the ZuS Es-gibt stage (Es gibt Sein / Es gibt Zeit / Ereignis). The wiki's ontological-difference and onto-theo-logik pages should present these as structurally distinct, not as variations on a single theme.

Status History

  • 2026-05-21 — created at live (fifteenth Phase 8 run). From GA 11 extraction-note Pass 3 Part D candidate 2. 3-test gate: T1 contestable (description vs origin; local vs fundamental); T2 anchored (pp. 83–89 + Randbemerkung 93); T3 counterpressure (description-vs-origin + local-vocabulary + marginalia-evidential-weight). Confidence medium: single-source, though the marginalia corroborate the reading.
