The Anhang/Beilagen Systematically Retract the Sprung in Favor of Erwachen

Claim
The Anhang and Beilagen I/II to Identität und Differenz constitute a systematic self-dismantling of the published 1957 Identitätsvortrag's central methodological figure — the Sprung (leap into Ereignis). The Anhang marks the Sprung as "eigentlich Unzureichend"; the Beilagen replace it with Erwachen (awakening), Entsagen (renouncing), and Entwachen (un-awakening). If taken seriously, the most dramatic moment of the published 1957 text is retracted, and the vocabulary of late-Heidegger method shifts from leaping-into to awakening-within.
Evidence
- heidegger-ga11-identitat-und-differenz — Anhang p. 83: "eigentlich Unzureichend" applied to the Sprung-figure.
- Beilagen I (Umschlag + Blätter 1–9): systematic replacement of Sprung-vocabulary with Erwachen/Entsagen.
- Beilagen II (Blätter 1–6): continuation of the Erwachen-register with Entwachen as a further specification.
- The extraction note's four-test gate confirms: "the Anhang/Beilagen self-corrections could not be produced from the abstract."
Counterpressure / Limits
- The Beilagen are unpublished marginalia, not published corrections. Editorial-genetic caution: marginal notes may be exploratory rather than definitive. Heidegger did not revise the published text.
- The Beiträge zur Philosophie (GA 65, 1936–38) Sprung-figure — the pre-Identitätsvortrag articulation of the leap — is not retracted in the Beilagen. The correction may be specific to the 1957 lecture-course context, not universal across Heidegger's Sprung-vocabulary.
- The Erwachen-vocabulary may supplement rather than replace Sprung: awakening as the modality of the leap, not its retraction. The extraction note's "systematic self-dismantling" framing may overstate the correction.
Payoff
Every wiki page and secondary-literature citation that references "the leap into Ereignis" as Heidegger's late-methodological figure should be qualified: the published text's Sprung is the author's own draft, retracted in his own hand-copy. The Erwachen-register (awakening-within rather than leaping-into) reframes late-Heidegger method as receptive rather than voluntaristic — a significant difference for any comparative reading with MP's passivity-register or with the Gelassenheit theme.
Status History
- 2026-05-21 — created at live (fifteenth Phase 8 run). From GA 11 extraction-note Pass 3 Part D candidate 1. 3-test gate: T1 contestable (marginalia-vs-published + supplement-vs-replacement + Beiträge-unretracted); T2 anchored (Anhang p. 83 + Beilagen I + Beilagen II); T3 counterpressure (editorial-genetic caution + Beiträge Sprung unretracted + supplement-vs-replacement reading). Confidence medium: documentary evidence is strong (Heidegger's own hand) but publication status and scope of retraction are genuinely debatable.
