Husserl's §53 paradox of human subjectivity is the structural template MP's reversibility/chiasm/écart inherits and de-resolves

Claim
Husserl's Crisis §53 subject-FOR-the-world / object-IN-the-world paradox supplies the structural template MP's reversibility/chiasm/écart inherits while refusing Husserl's §54 resolution: where Husserl dissolves the paradox by ascending to a worldless constituting primal ego, MP keeps the subject-that-is-also-object incarnate in the flesh and makes the non-coincidence (écart) primary and unbridgeable. (Structural parallel + interpretive with a corrective edge; not a hard genealogical descent — see Counterpressure.)
Evidence
- husserl-1954-crisis — §53 (raw, maintainer verbatim-verified): the paradox stated — subjectivity as "object in the world" yet "conscious subject for the world"; the part that "swallows up… the whole world and thus itself too. What an absurdity!"
- husserl-1954-crisis — §54b: the resolution MP refuses — the "leap over the primal 'I'… which can never lose its uniqueness and personal indeclinability," lifting the constituting subject out of the world.
- husserl-1954-crisis — §54b Ent-Fremdung + §55 "mute concreteness" (extraction-note Contrastive Note "§54b self-alienation → ecart"): Husserl's own non-coincidence ("called 'I' only by equivocation") reined back into "the absolute singularity of the ego" — the écart-seed.
- merleau-ponty-1968-visible-and-invisible — V&I Ch 4 pp.147–148: MP keeps the touching-touched body but refuses coincidence — "the coincidence eclipses at the moment of realization"; reversibility "always imminent and never realized in fact."
- merleau-ponty-1968-visible-and-invisible — V&I Ch 3 p.124: the maintained gap is the écart, made primary/unbridgeable rather than reined-in. Distinct source count = 2 primary (Husserl + MP V&I), each multiply anchored.
Counterpressure / Limits
- Two-different-paradoxes objection (strongest). §53 is a paradox of transcendental constitution (a part of the world constitutes the whole); MP's reversibility is perceptual reflexivity (sensing-sensed), and MP rejects constitution wholesale. "Template" may conflate the subject/object doubling (genuinely shared) with the constitution paradox (Husserl-specific, refused entirely).
- Ideas II provenance. The touching-touched / Doppelempfindung structure is philologically traced to Husserl's Ideas II §36–37, not Crisis §53 — see claims#mp-chair-departs-husserl (live). A hard "§53 is the source" reading would collide with that sibling claim; hence the structural-parallel (not descent) typing.
- Genealogical-anchor gap. No anchored evidence that MP textually engages Crisis §53 specifically; genealogical descent is a hypothesis, not an anchored chain.
Payoff
Converts the loose "MP inherits Husserl" intuition into a precise pivot: MP's late reversibility is a determinate transformation of a specific Husserlian paradox — same subject/object structure, opposite terminus (transcendental ascent vs incarnate non-coincidence) — and gives the Morin VI-148 écart contest a genealogical backstop (MP's refusal of a "grounding principle behind the écart" reads as a refusal of Husserl's reining-in of Ent-Fremdung). Not visible from the concept pages alone.
Status History
- 2026-06-07 — created at live (audit Phase 8, comprehensive run; Husserl Crisis ingest Pass 3 Part D). 3-test gate passes (claim-promotion-reviewer advisory): contestable; ≥2 anchors from ≥2 primary sources (Husserl §53/§54 verbatim-verified + MP V&I canonical); counterpressure recorded. Typed structural-parallel (not genealogical) per the Ideas II-provenance concern; member of the Husserl↔MP relation family (claims#mp-chair-departs-husserl, claims#mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib, claims#mp-takes-husserl-further-than-husserl-intended). Distinct from the contested claims#science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm (different axis). Held at medium; not supported (Test 5 wobbles on the constitution-vs-reflexivity disanalogy).
