Claim

Chouraqui (2016 Order of the Earth fn. 31, p. 69) frames his disagreement with Renaud Barbaras as "purely historical": Barbaras (Dynamique de la Manifestation, Vrin 2013) holds that the dynamic ontology of pure relations is what MP should have held but didn't; Chouraqui argues MP did hold it. The dispute hides a substantive philosophical question: whether an "ontology of pure relations without terms" is coherent at all, and whether MP's late corpus systematizes such an ontology (Chouraqui) or only gestures at it (Barbaras). The wiki should track this disagreement explicitly rather than collapse it into either side's position.

Counterpressure / Limits

The disagreement turns on whether MP's cross-text coherence (1959–60 lectures, V&I, late working notes) constitutes a systematic position or a working draft — both Chouraqui and Barbaras read carefully, and the textual evidence under-determines the verdict.
Chouraqui frames the dispute as "purely historical" but the philosophical stakes are real: if Barbaras is right, the wiki should not endorse MP as holding a dynamic ontology of pure relations without terms; if Chouraqui is right, the wiki should; the in-between status (Chouraqui-attributed but Barbaras-resisted) is the actually-defensible position.
Strong false-friend caution: Barbaras's Dynamique itself is not a wiki-ingested source — the false-friend caution applies specifically because the wiki cannot adjudicate without ingesting Barbaras's primary text.
