Per Annabelle Dufourcq's reading (M-C 2026 Ch 8), MP's late argumentative style is a performative version of his ontology, structurally akin to Bachelard's du contre / world-as-provocation register: where Bachelard's late epistemology operates by productive opposition (the philosophy du non, the contre that does not negate but engenders), MP's late style operates by productive interrogation — argumentative gestures (questions left open, hypotheses entertained without endorsement, provisional formulations) are not stylistic adornment but the enactment of the late ontology's commitment to non-foreclosure of being. The claim reframes the difficulty of MP's late prose: standard readings treat the difficulty as residual unfinished-ness (since V&I is unfinished); Dufourcq's reading treats the difficulty as load-bearing performative content — the prose enacts what the ontology says, namely that being is not a substance to be specified but a question-space to be sustained.
