Claim
Beyond Good and Evil states will to power in two registers that do not sit flush. In the cosmological register it is a hedged hypothesis: §36 advances "the world… would be precisely 'will to power' and nothing else" only inside a chain of "supposing that," licensed by "the conscience of method," and §22 concedes the whole reading is "only interpretation… so much the better." In the bio-social register it is a flat fact: §259 ("life simply is will to power"; exploitation "belongs to the essence of what lives") and §186 ("a world whose essence is will to power"). Because §22 sincerely concedes will to power is "only interpretation," the flat §259/§186 assertions are — by Nietzsche's own principle — also interpretations; the primary text therefore internally warrants Chouraqui's "metaphysical-not-ontological" reading and Klossowski's "equivocation" reading, and is the friction point for Heidegger's reading of will to power as the assertoric determination of the Being of beings. Counterpressure / Limits
The exoteric-mask counter (strongest). BGE thematizes masking as both theme and method (§30 exoteric/esoteric, §40 "all that is profound loves a mask," §289 "every word also a mask"; "mask" is a HUB motif of the book). If §36's "supposing that" hedge is exoteric masking rather than sincere epistemic modesty, then §259's flat assertion is the esoteric doctrine, the flat register is primary, and the hedge is surface — which would support Heidegger's assertoric reading and dissolve the claim's pivotal inference that §22's "only interpretation" sincerely and book-widely governs §259/§186. The claim's vindication-of-Chouraqui turn presupposes §22 is sincere and global in scope; the mask counter denies exactly that, using BGE's own most-loaded motif.
"Frictions Heidegger" is the weakest leg. Heidegger can absorb the hedge as the Vermenschlichung he diagnoses as the essence of metaphysics' completion — so the friction may be no friction. The robust half of the claim is the positive one (BGE warrants Chouraqui/Klossowski), not the negative one (BGE embarrasses Heidegger).
Developmental alternative. The two registers could be compositional inconsistency rather than a single instability — though the claim deliberately says "instability," not "deliberate two-register strategy," to stay below that over-reading.
