BGE §211 is the hinge that converts the Part 1 critique of the will to truth into the positive program of value-legislation — perspectivism is not skepticism but a license to create values

Claim
Beyond Good and Evil §211 — "the genuine philosophers are commanders and legislators: they say 'thus it shall be!'… their 'knowing' is creating, their creating is a legislation, their will to truth is — will to power" — is the hinge on which BGE turns its negative Part 1 (the critique of the will to truth and the "faith in opposite values," §§1–4) into its positive program (the philosopher of the future as value-legislator). The pivot shows that BGE's perspectivism is not skepticism: if there are "no facts, only interpretations" (§22, §108), the consequence Nietzsche draws is not paralysis but license — the philosopher creates values rather than discovering them. §211 closes the will to truth onto the will to power: truth-seeking, fully understood, is value-creating command.
Evidence
- nietzsche-1886-beyond-good-and-evil — §211 (extraction-note Pass 2c): "the genuine philosophers are commanders and legislators… their 'knowing' is creating… their will to truth is — will to power."
- nietzsche-1886-beyond-good-and-evil — §§1–4 (the will-to-truth critique: "the will to truth… has never had its value questioned," §1; untruth as "a condition of life," §4) and §§203, 212 (the philosopher-of-the-future as legislator of the future) — the negative pole §211 converts.
Counterpressure / Limits
Whether §211's "their will to truth is — will to power" is a definition or a polemical identification is contestable; the "perspectivism → license to create values (not skepticism)" reading leans heavily on a single aphorism and could be charged with over-reading a rhetorical flourish. Single-source, BGE-internal → candidate. The claim also presupposes that §22's perspectivism is sincere and global — the same presupposition the exoteric-mask counter pressures in claims#bge-will-to-power-hedged-vs-flat.
Payoff
Shows BGE's critique of the will to truth (Part 1) and its philosopher-legislator (Part 6) are one move, not two themes — closing the gap between Nietzsche's epistemology and his politics of value. Pairs with claims#gm-will-to-truth-self-overcoming-of-nihilism (live): BGE §211 is the affirmative face (will to truth → value-creation) and GM III.27 the genealogical face (will to truth → self-overcoming) of one will-to-truth thread running across the two primary Nietzsche texts.
