Claim

Husserl's Horizont (the inner/outer horizon of the perceptual object) is transformed along (at least) two independent post-Husserlian axes: Merleau-Ponty's ontological-dimensional axis (horizon, horizons-of-language) and Gadamer's historical-hermeneutic axis (fusion-of-horizons, Sprachlichkeit). The structural convergence is precise: both generalize the perceptual horizon past perception, and both deploy the generalized horizon against relativism / imprisonment — MP: "the horizons, not the limits, of my language"; Gadamer: "the hermeneutical experience is the corrective by means of which the thinking reason escapes the prison of language" (p. 458). The divergence is the grounding register: MP's perceptual-ontological flesh vs. Gadamer's tradition-and-dialogue. The two are thus candidates for a cross-tradition cousin relation (rejection + substitute-form align; grounding axis diverges registrally) rather than a shared mechanism.
