The standard reception dates the framework to PoP (1945) at the earliest and often to the 1954–55 Institution and Passivity courses. Note 50 of SB Ch IV pushes the documented MP genealogy three years earlier than PoP and twelve years earlier than I&P — and is not a passing footnote but a deferred research program MP names explicitly ("there would be a place for investigating more thoroughly").
