Synthetic-Layer Report — Phase 8 (2026-06-28)

Run type: Phase-8-only micro-run (Claude Code mode), branch claude/audit-phase8-2026-06-28. Trigger: the two same-day primary-Nietzsche ingests — Beyond Good and Evil (BGE, commit 48da14be) and On the Genealogy of Morality (GM, commit 0c0bbe7d) — each of which flagged Pass-3 Part-D claim candidates for Phase 8 ("a major-volume single ingest: 5+ new concept pages from one source"; GM alone added 8). Operational mode: decision points are halts; standing SKILL Pre-Authorization Defaults apply unmodified (no active-run AUDIT_PLAN.md block; no run-scoped loosening). No supported promotion attempted → no HALT triggered.

Scope

Harvested and adjudicated the 9 claim candidates flagged in the BGE + GM extraction-note Pass-3 Part-D sections. The full mechanical harvest (harvest-claim-candidates.py) surfaces a 146-candidate backlog across 145 extraction notes; that backlog is the province of a comprehensive audit and is out of scope here — this micro-run is bounded to the two today-ingested sources.

Net register change: +6 entries (2 live, 4 candidate), 0 supported. Register 297 → 303 (23 supported / 144 live / 130 candidate / 1 contested / 5 retired).

Independent gate review (the 2 live promotions)

Both live promotions were independently reviewed by the claim-promotion-reviewer subagent before promotion (per SKILL Phase 8 "Independent gate review"). Both returned PROMOTE-to-live, confidence medium, confirming genuine ≥3-source synthesis (not disguised single-source summaries) and Rules 17/18 clean. Reviewer conditions incorporated:

  • BGE-1: reviewer ran its own Rule-18 raw check and verified §186 ("a world whose essence is will to power") at raw ≈ l. 1212 → bullet relabelled verified raw-source location (not Pass-2c); Klossowski located to Ch. 5; the exoteric-mask counter headlined in Counterpressure (if §36's hedge is exoteric masking, §259 is the esoteric doctrine — which would support Heidegger, not Chouraqui). Both reviewers independently noted supported is blocked by the mask counter / register-mismatch (Test 5 would not survive), consistent with the durable HALT.
  • GM-1: Counterpressure written around the reviewer's strongest leg — the will-to-truth vs will-to-power register mismatch (the two leveraged live claims are will-to-power-framed; GM III is will-to-truth-framed; Heidegger's own GM-/death-of-God reading, Holzwege "Nietzsches Wort 'Gott ist tot'", is un-ingested). Homed on the four existing pages with [[nihilism]] referenced in prose only (not as a structural home, since the page is a stub). Neighbor claim metaphysics-as-nihilism-heidegger-thesis (candidate) cross-linked, not merged.

Strengthening of 2 existing live claims (primary-text anchoring)

Both intersected live claims previously rested only on secondary sources and explicitly flagged missing primary-text Nietzsche evidence. The ingests discharge that gap:

  • heidegger-vs-chouraqui-on-nietzsche-leitfrage — added BGE §22/§36 (hedged) vs §259/§186 (flat) as the primary-text register-split the dispute turns on; Sources: gains nietzsche-1886-beyond-good-and-evil; Status History line dated 2026-06-28. Stays live/medium (the new evidence is primary-text, not the third-position Deleuze/Klossowski/Vattimo adjudication the path to supported still requires).
  • vollendung-vs-uberwindung-of-metaphysics — added GM III.27–28 (Selbstaufhebung; "will to nothingness") as the primary-text battleground; Sources: gains nietzsche-1887-genealogy-of-morality; Status History line dated 2026-06-28. Stays live/medium.

Triage decisions

  • De-duplication: GM-4 folded into BGE-1 as corroboration (the reflexive-interpretation instability recurs in GM's physiological register, III.16) rather than a separate near-duplicate entry — the reviewer flagged the shared III.16 anchor as a lint-18 risk if both carried it independently.
  • False-friend cautions: BGE-2 and BGE-3 were realized as cautions during the BGE ingest (verified present on all four pages); not promoted to claims (per the extraction-note guidance — promote only on a future Deleuze ingest / weave Pass 3).
  • Artifact conservatism (Rule 18): the only older-passage check needed was §186, performed by the BGE-1 reviewer (verified at raw ≈ l. 1212). All other anchors are same-day extraction-note Pass-2c with raw line numbers — no stale-note re-checks required.
  • Broken evidence chains queued for raw checks: none.

Cite-back (Step 8.9)

Resolved the ingest-staged "candidate flagged for Phase 8" hooks to promoted status on 9 pages (live → "(live claim)", candidate → "(candidate)"): will-to-power, perspectivism, will-to-truth, ascetic-ideal, vollendung-der-metaphysik, friedrich-nietzsche, genealogy, bad-conscience, ascetic-priest. Corrected ascetic-ideal's dangling gm-physiological-reduction-is-reflexively-interpretation flag (now points to the live BGE-1 it was folded into). Secondary-home cite-backs (stiftung, soul-as-subject-multiplicity, philosopher-of-the-future) deferred as low-value.

Phase 7 addendum (post-Phase-8 confidence)

No confidence values changed as a result of synthetic-layer assembly. The 2 strengthened live claims stay medium (third-position adjudication blocker unchanged); the 2 new live claims were created at medium. No addendum pass required.

Phase 8.6 — Retirement / downgrade queue

claim_retirement_queue.py --apply --staleness-days 31 (window scaled to the ~62-day register age per v0d.15, since default 90 cannot fire) → wiki/.audit/claim-retirement-queue-2026-06-28.md. 196 rows, all keep / staleness; 0 actionable (no downgrade/retire/merge defect fired — no structurally-thin live/supported claims, no recorded-but-unapplied supersessions, no duplicate pairs). The all-keep window is the expected noisy-but-conservative behavior, not a subtraction-health certificate.

8.6 scorecard: queue rows 196 · adjudicated 0 (no defects) · register Δ +6 (0 retired / 0 downgraded / 0 merged).

Follow-ups (carried forward)

  1. nihilism concept page — TOP follow-up → ✅ DONE in this PR (2026-06-28). The nihilism HUB page + motifs.md entry were built same-day (with death-of-god alongside), homing GM-1. Original finding (now resolved): it was the corpus's strongest un-entered cross-tradition motif (GM III.28 + Heidegger II + Chouraqui = 3 traditions), handled by a weave/synthesis pass rather than a Phase-8 claim micro-run.
  2. GM-2 → live requires the Husserl-side Stiftung-valence anchor (genealogy↔Stiftung cross-tradition cousin); natural weave Pass-3 product (a has cross-tradition cousin typed connection).
  3. Phase-3 motifs-delta (deferred from the GM ingest): assess nihilism / will to nothingness and sickness / health / the sick animal (vs Klossowski valetudinary-states) as corpus entries; the self-overcoming / Selbstaufhebung false-friend against the Aufheben HUB; and the Nietzsche-internal motifs (perspectivism, herd, order-of-rank, mask) for corpus promotion now that two same-author notes attest them.
  4. GM-5 / BGE-4 are weave Pass-3 / What the Concept Does candidates on ascetic-priest and will-to-truth respectively.
  5. Deleuze (Nietzsche and Philosophy) ingest would make nietzsche-master-slave-not-hegelian (BGE-2) citable as a claim and sharpen the anti-dialectical reading.
