Claim

Per Saint Aubert 2023 III.2, MP's late ontology contains an implicit typology of four gestures of being's portance (carrying / bearing): (1) résistant — being's resistance to being grasped (the sauvage / wild register); (2) ouvrant — being's opening of a domain (the écart / institutional register); (3) écartant — being's spacing-apart that lets phenomena be (the ultra-chose register); (4) reliant — being's relating-together (the omnitenens register). These four gestures are not thematized by MP as a typology; Saint Aubert reconstructs them from MP's late vocabulary. The typology is one possible reconstruction; cardinality (four rather than three or five) is a constructive choice, not a textual finding.

Counterpressure / Limits

  • Cardinality is constructive. Why four and not three (Saint Aubert 2021) or five? The 2023 paper's four-gesture frame is not derived from MP but synthesized by Saint Aubert. A reader could grant the four MP-vocabulary clusters (sauvage, écart, ultra-chose, omnitenens) without endorsing them as gestures of one operation.
  • MP does not unify these registers as a typology. Each of the four registers is at home in different MP texts (V&I, IP, Nature, Possibility of Philosophy) without explicit cross-reference as gestures of a single being's portance. The unifying frame is Saint Aubert's interpretive contribution.
  • The 2023 paper is condensational. The four-gesture typology is in summary form; the underlying argument lives in Saint Aubert 2021 (E&C II) and Saint Aubert 2006 (Vers une ontologie indirecte), both now ingested. The SA-2006 raw-absence gate that previously blocked promotion to live is now passable; promotion requires a sustained cross-reading of SA-2006 and E&C II confirming the typology's textual anchoring.
  • The typology is structurally consonant with ontology-of-the-object and figuratifs but the structural consonance is itself constructive: the wiki's own pages would have to be read through the four-gesture lens to confirm fit, and that reading is what would make the typology load-bearing.

Payoff

If supportable post-Saint-Aubert-2006 ingest, the four-gesture typology gives portance its internal architecture. The page currently treats portance as a single concept with multiple inflections; the typology re-articulates it as a typed-relation structure. This in turn refines the wiki's reading of MP's late ontology as architecturally articulated rather than thematically diffuse.

  • 2026-04-29 — created as candidate. The 3-test gate is partially open: (1) the typology is contestable (cardinality, MP's own thematization); (2) anchored in Saint Aubert 2023 III.2 raw 451–490 plus 2021 Épilogue cross-reference; (3) Counterpressure documents the constructive cardinality, MP's lack of explicit thematization, the Saint Aubert 2006 dependency, and the structural-consonance constructive-loop. The cardinality issue keeps the claim at candidate rather than live: a typology whose membership-list is the auditor's choice does not satisfy criterion 1's contestability requirement in the right way (it is contestable too freely). Promotion to live would require either a Saint Aubert text where the typology is presented as a textual finding (E&C II Ch III) or independent confirmation from a second source.
  • 2026-05-21 (audit Phase 8, fourteenth run) — HOLD at candidate. SA-2006 gate cleared (ingested 2026-05-05); the raw-absence blocker is resolved. However, the cardinality problem persists: the typology's membership-list (four gestures rather than three or five) is the auditor's constructive choice, not a textual finding, so T1 ("contestable in the right way") does not pass. The SA-2006 extraction note does not resolve this — SA-2006 is concerned with the indirect-ontology genealogy (Blondel route), not with portance-gesture cardinality. Promotion still requires either a Saint Aubert text presenting the typology as a textual finding or independent secondary-source confirmation.
