Phase 6 — Citation Integrity Spot-Check Report (2026-04-28 audit)
Date: 2026-04-28 Run: Subsequent audit (first ran 2026-04-25; this is the second audit run, focused on changes since 2026-04-27). Scope: 15 citations sampled. Bias toward audit-produced and new-ingest pages per AUDIT_PLAN S2 / R3 (~20% audit-produced + new-ingest material).
Sample composition
The sample was biased per S2:
- 5 from new ingest concept / source pages (created or substantially updated 2026-04-27 / 2026-04-28):
- letting-be — Carbone 2004 ingest
- propaedeutic-dialectic — Kee 2025 ingest
- expressive-will — Kee 2025 ingest
- carbone-2004-thinking-of-the-sensible — source page
- valery-1960-oeuvres-ii — source page
- 3 from new audit-produced claim entries (2026-04-27 + 2026-04-28):
science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm— joint-operation thesis claim (live)valery-implex-genealogy— implex genealogical claim (live, 2026-04-28)letting-be-beneath-distinction— new this run (live, 2026-04-28)
- 2 from earlier audit-produced concept pages (Pass 3 of v0c migration):
- 5 from older concept pages (created pre-2026-04-25):
- implex — substantially updated 2026-04-28 with Valéry attestations
- chiasm — Pass 3 in-place upgrade
- lateral-universal — substantially updated 2026-04-28 with Kee
- ineinander — Pass 3b in-place upgrade
- symbolic-matrix — Pass 3b in-place upgrade
Verification per citation
For each sampled citation, the test was: (1) does the citation appear in an extraction note? (2) if not, is the cited source in raw/? (3) if neither, is the citation flagged speculative or omitted?
| # | Page | Citation sampled | Verification |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | letting-be | "Carbone p. 44, citing RC 179/198–99" | Carbone 2004 extraction-note Pass 2c entry anchors p. 44; MP RC 179/198–99 is in merleau-ponty-1970-in-praise-of-philosophy.md — both anchors traceable. ✓ |
| 2 | letting-be | "Maldiney's L'Art, l'éclair de l'être 1993, 333" | Carbone 2004 extraction-note Pass 2c records Carbone's quotation from Maldiney 333; Maldiney itself not in raw/ but anchored via Carbone's text. Per Rule 17 (Carbone 2004 extraction note authorizes the mediated reading). ✓ |
| 3 | propaedeutic-dialectic | "PbP 57: 'truth of objectivism'" | Kee 2025 extraction-note Pass 2a entries cite PbP 57 explicitly via Kee p. 79. PbP itself (the Problem of Speech lecture course) not directly in raw/; cited via Kee per AUDIT_PLAN S2 — the Kee anchor is sufficient for traceability under Rule 17. ✓ |
| 4 | propaedeutic-dialectic | "Structure of Behavior 1963 p. 201" | Kee 2025 fn 25 + Kee p. 88 cite SoB 1963 p. 201. SoB not in raw/ directly (only the integrated PoP ingest reference). The Kee mediation traces; the page-level claim is "truth of naturalism" which is in MP's text. ✓ |
| 5 | expressive-will | "PoW p. 50f. ('a drive [poussée]...')" | Kee 2025 extraction-note + merleau-ponty-1973-prose-of-the-world source page (PoW IS in raw/); the poussée terminology is at PoW pp. 50–51. ✓ |
| 6 | carbone-2004-thinking-of-the-sensible | "VI 319/266" (Preface chiasm-formula) | Carbone 2004 Preface Pass 2a + Pass 2c attestations record this dual-language citation; VI itself in raw/ as [[merleau-ponty-1968-visible-and-invisible]]. ✓ |
| 7 | valery-1960-oeuvres-ii | "raw 23403" (Mauvaises pensées fragment) | Valéry 1960 extraction-note Pass 2c anchors raw 23403 explicitly with the verbatim French. The Pléiade tome II IS in raw/ as OEuvres (Pleiade), tome II - Paul Valery.md. ✓ |
| 8 | claims.md science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm Evidence #1 |
"raw line 35: 'What, then, is this secret science...'" | E&M extraction-note Silent Keys §1 line 341 anchors this raw line. E&M IS in raw/ as maurice-merleauponty-eye-and-mind.md. ✓ |
| 9 | claims.md valery-implex-genealogy Evidence #1 |
"L'Idée fixe raw 5078–5080" | Valéry 1960 extraction-note Pass 2c anchors raw 5078–5080 with the verbatim French. ✓ |
| 10 | claims.md letting-be-beneath-distinction Evidence #2 |
"VI 138/101–102" | Carbone 2004 extraction-note Ch 4 p. 41 anchors this passage; VI in raw/. ✓ |
| 11 | stiftung | "Course 11 (1956–57, p. 62) Bergson retrospective identification" | [[merleau-ponty-2002-husserl-limits |
| 12 | hinge | "I&P 3, 127 anchors" | merleau-ponty-2010-institution-and-passivity extraction-note line 84 anchors the Course Summary p. 114 hinge passage; I&P in raw/ as institution-and-passivity-course-notes-from-the-college-de-france-1954-1955.md. ✓ |
| 13 | implex | "L'Idée fixe (1932; in Œuvres II Pléiade, raw 5074–5188)" | Valéry 1960 extraction-note Pass 2c anchors raw 5074–5188. ✓ |
| 14 | chiasm | "Tel quel I, Choses tues §VI, Regards" raw 12613 | Valéry 1960 extraction-note Pass 2c anchors raw 12613. ✓ |
| 15 | lateral-universal | "Kee fn 18: SW&WE 2020b pp. 45, 50" | Kee 2025 extraction-note records Kee fn 18 explicitly. SW&WE IS in raw/ as maurice-merleauponty-the-sensible-world-and-the-world-of-expression-course-notes-from-the-college-de-france-1953.md; the targeted raw check of pp. 45/50 is queued for next audit per Rule 18 / claims#language-as-missing-case-of-lateral-universal Counterpressure. The Kee-mediated anchor is sufficient for the current live status; the targeted check would tighten the genealogical sub-thesis. ✓ |
Fabrication checks (carry-forward from 2026-04-25)
- Faul / "Painter's Courage" / JBSP 55:2 / 2024 fabrication pattern: clean. All hits remain in audit-record positions only (
.audit/reports,claims.mdCounterpressure / Status History,log.mdhistorical record,overview.md). No new occurrences in concept / source / entity / question pages. ✓ - Heinbokel: in
raw/since 2026-04-25 audit but unindexed; appears only on coherent-deformation as a False-Friend Caution subsection (added 2026-04-27 Pass 4) and inclaims.mdFalse-friend section. The caution is properly framed as opening-the-question. ✓ - Steinbock: appears via Beith ingestion (Steinbock is referenced within Beith's text, not directly cited from Steinbock). The Beith extraction note records the Steinbock references; per Rule 17, the Beith-mediated anchor is sufficient for presence-of-reference. Direct Steinbock-source verification is not possible (Steinbock not in
raw/). ✓ (presence-only). - Andén, De Warren, Saint Aubert 2006, Faul, Lau 2016: presence-of-reference only; cannot be source-verified without ingest. The wiki's references to these authors are appropriately framed as mediated through ingested secondary literature or as gap-flags. ✓ (presence-only).
Findings
Sample size: 15 citations. Flagged: 0. Fabrications detected: 0. Fabrication-pattern hits (Faul / Painter's Courage): 0 new (all carry-forward to audit-record positions). Citations passing traceability test: 15 / 15.
Note on biased sampling (R3)
A clean biased sample is evidence that fabrications aren't concentrated where we'd expect; it is not certification that the corpus is fabrication-free. The unsampled portion of citations (the wiki has now grown to 33 sources, ~146 concept pages, with hundreds of citations across them) remains unverified by this audit. This negative result confirms that the new ingests' adherence to General Rule 16 (citation traceability, codified at Phase 0a in the 2026-04-25 audit) has held: the three 2026-04-28 ingests (Kee, Valéry, Carbone 2004) introduced no fabrications.
Closure
The 2026-04-28 audit's Phase 6 spot-check passes. No fabrications detected. The Faul fabrication pattern (the originating incident behind General Rule 16) remains absent from concept / source / entity / question pages. The audit record continues to document the pattern in .audit/ reports and in claims.md Counterpressure for cryptic-institution-extends-beith and faul-institutional-camp — this is by design, not a hit.
The next-audit-run handoff (2026-04-27) flagged "audit-produced pages and claim entries are subject to the same citation spot-check sampling as legacy pages"; this run honored that by sampling 3 audit-produced claim entries directly. All passed. The synthetic-layer additions in Phase 8 of the v0c migration are spot-check clean.
