Weave Pass 3 Follow-up 2026-05-17 — Handoff for Next Session

Audience: future-Claude or future-user resuming this work in a later session. Status at handoff: weave-pass3-followup complete. HEAD: badf8bf weave-pass3-followup 2026-05-17. All explicit user-authorized work for the 2026-05-17 follow-up session is done. v0d.9 Latent-Adjacent SKILL extension is now design-eligible per Scan C's confirmation of the second cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent instance.

TL;DR

  1. 3 Pass 3 follow-up scans complete (mythical-time ↔ transtemporality intra-MP; enveloping-enveloped ↔ nascent-state intra-MP; unvordenklich ↔ incorporation-of-truth cross-tradition). All returned PARTIAL with distinct sub-verdicts. The cross-tradition scan (C) confirmed the SECOND Latent-Adjacent instance after aletheia ↔ dehiscence.
  2. 7 Pass 4 back-reference sections applied to the LOW-priority HUB pages from the 2026-05-16 weave-survey.
  3. Bridge Card 1 revised with Latent-Adjacent reframing; re-submission deferred pending v0d.9 codification or provisional verdict authorization.
  4. v0d.9 defer-clause upgraded from "defer indefinitely" to "design-eligible after second; commit after third." Latent-Adjacent verdict signature sharpened to: axes (i) + (ii) align in family/form across tradition boundary; axis (iii) grounding diverges registrally (the defining feature).

Wiki state: 485 pages | 57 sources | 277 concepts | 129 entities | 22 questions | 158 claim entries (17 supported / 83 live / 57 candidate / 1 contested / 0 retired). Same as start of session — no new pages or claim entries; 8 concept-page edits + audit reports.

What landed in this run

Commit badf8bf (17 files changed, 452 insertions, 22 deletions):

  • 3 new scan reports under wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-2026-05-17-followup/:
    • scan-A-mythical-transtemporality.md
    • scan-B-enveloping-nascent.md
    • scan-C-unvordenklich-incorporation-cross-tradition.md (the critical one — confirms second cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent instance)
  • 1 new audit report for Bridge Card 1 revision: bridge-card-1-revised.md
  • 7 Pass 4 back-reference sections inserted on HUB concept pages: no-mans-land-1949, changement-quantite-qualite, individu-de-classe, antithetic-critique-of-sartre, condemned-to-meaning, constituting-vs-instituting-subject, revolution-as-another-stiftung
  • 1 mythical-time.md Open Question answered (per Scan A; vertical/horizontal distinction confirmed load-bearing)
  • 1 pointer added to original weave-pass3-2026-05-16.md Section C Card 1 (points to revision)
  • index.md: header comment + 8 Updated dates + frontmatter
  • log.md: 2026-05-17 follow-up entry
  • Baseline refresh: audit count 73 → 74 (added the followup subdirectory)

Subagent budget: 3 Opus structural-isomorphism-scanner subagents in a single parallel fan-out. No bridge-card-signoff subagents (Beta deferred re-submission).

The critical finding: v0d.9 is now design-eligible

Scan C (unvordenklich ↔ incorporation-of-truth) confirmed the SECOND cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent instance after aletheia ↔ dehiscence. The signature is now sharper than Card 1 alone permitted:

Latent-Adjacent verdict (draft for v0d.9): A pair is Latent-Adjacent (between Partial and Isomorphic) when:

  1. Axes (i) + (ii) align in family/form across a tradition boundary (genuine structural cousinhood on rejection-direction + substitute-form);
  2. Axis (iii) grounding diverges registrally — there is no shared third register at the corpus level into which both grounding-apparatuses translate;
  3. The registral divergence is across a tradition boundary (not within-tradition technical-vocabulary divergence);
  4. The strict Iso threshold would either require ignoring the registral divergence or duplicating an existing live claim.

Apply-mode authorization scoping for Latent-Adjacent (per Scan C):

  • Concept-page typed connections (*shares mechanism with*, *has cross-tradition cousin*) — AUTHORIZED
  • False-friend caution upgrades to Open Questions subsections — AUTHORIZED
  • claims.md candidate emission — NOT AUTHORIZED (registral divergence undermines unification-of-grounding move)
  • motifs.md BRIDGE entry creation/update — AUTHORIZED (matches BRIDGE weight class)

The defer-clause upgrade ("design-eligible after second; commit after third") means the maintainer can now choose:

  • (a) Design and commit v0d.9 NOW under provisional authorization, with the third-instance scan running afterward as confirmation
  • (b) Run a third cross-tradition scan first and commit v0d.9 if it confirms the signature
  • (c) Continue to defer until a third instance arrives organically (status quo)

Candidate third-instance pairs (per Scan C):

  • Schelling barbarian-principle ↔ MP wild-being — already BRIDGE-attested cross-tradition. Predicted verdict: Latent-Adjacent.
  • Schelling Daß-Was ↔ MP chiasm — per asymmetric bi-directionality BRIDGE entry. Predicted verdict: Latent-Adjacent.

Decision items surfaced (in priority order)

Decision item 1 (apply-mode writes deferred from this session): Apply scan-recommendation writes

5 routine apply-mode writes were drafted in the scan reports but DEFERRED pending maintainer review:

# Target Source Stake
1 enveloping-enveloped.md ## Open Questions Scan B false-friend caution draft LOW (replaces existing "worth a future scan" with verdict)
2 nascent-state.md ## Open Questions Scan B false-friend caution draft LOW (new entry)
3 unvordenklich.md ## Open Questions Scan C optional false-friend caution LOW (notes second-instance status)
4 incorporation-of-truth.md ## Open Questions Scan C optional false-friend caution LOW (notes second-instance status)
5 claims.md transtemporality-ineinander-as-register-pair-extensions-of-institution Counterpressure Scan B rec #2 (note third pair tested and rejected) LOW (strengthens existing claim)

All drafts ready verbatim in the scan reports. Each is a one-paragraph addition.

Decision item 2 (potentially session-completing): v0d.9 SKILL extension design + commit

Path (a) — design and commit now — is the maximal-information path. Path (b) — third scan first — is the conservative path. Path (c) — defer — is the status quo.

If pursued: schema-changelog amendment v0d.8 → v0d.9; weave SKILL §"Pass 3" updates to include latent-adjacent as a fourth verdict; bridge-card-signoff SKILL updates to recognize latent-adjacent as a bridge type. Bridge Card 1's revised form is the first card the new verdict would authorize; this gives the SKILL extension immediate empirical test material.

Estimated effort: ~45 min for the schema-changelog + SKILL updates; 0 subagents required.

Decision item 3 (1 cheap scan worth running): Schelling barbarian-principle ↔ MP wild-being

If the maintainer wants the third-instance confirmation before v0d.9 commit, this is the strongest candidate per Scan C's recommendation. Both pages exist (barbarian-principle is a motif heading; verify a dedicated page exists or use the closest concept page; wild-being.md definitely exists).

Estimated effort: ~15 min, 1 Opus subagent. Verdict prediction: Latent-Adjacent (would confirm third instance).

Decision item 4 (bridge-card re-sign-off): Re-submit revised Bridge Card 1

The revised card at wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-2026-05-17-followup/bridge-card-1-revised.md is ready for re-submission via bridge-card-signoff workflow under one of two conditions:

  • (a) v0d.9 is committed first (so latent-adjacent is a recognized bridge type)
  • (b) Maintainer provisionally authorizes the Latent-Adjacent verdict for this run

Estimated effort: 4-5 Opus subagents (interpretation-checker + 3 reviewers + adjudicator). Run-2 sign-off used 5 subagents.

Decision item 5 (heavier-effort design from prior handoff, still deferred): Bridge Card 2 reclassification

nascent-state-coexistence-silent-key-pair (BLOCKED at run-2 sign-off) — per Decision item 5 from the 2026-05-17 prior handoff, the path forward is reclassification outside the bridge-card form (either claims.md as meta-finding claim or motifs.md as STRUCTURAL motif). Counter-test: re-read 2026-04-25 silent-key scan for additional cluster members.

Estimated effort: 30-60 min depending on cluster-member finding outcome.

Decision item 6 (ingest needed for full Bridge Card 1 Iso upgrade): Lawlor / Dastur / Madison secondary literature

The revised Bridge Card 1's counter-test for upgrade-beyond-Latent-Adjacent requires ingesting:

  • Lawlor on dehiscence-as-différance
  • Dastur on Lichtung and clairière
  • Madison's La phénoménologie de Merleau-Ponty (1981)

None are in raw/. Maintainer (user) action required to acquire and add to raw/. After ingest, re-run structural-isomorphism-scanner on aletheia ↔ dehiscence; if returns Iso (not Latent-Adjacent), the upgrade obtains.

Quick-win immediate actions (if you have 20 minutes)

  1. Run /lint to verify 329-finding baseline holds. The current EXPECTED_SECTION_SIZES is: Inventory 11, Dead wikilinks 293, Typed-connection vocabulary 3, Hypothesis-pre conformance 22 — total 329. The 7 Pass 4 back-references introduced new wikilink references to motifs and to existing concept pages; verify no new dead links.
  2. Apply Decision item 1 writes (5 false-friend cautions) — all drafts ready verbatim in scan reports.
  3. Verify the new Motif Weight & Corpus Recurrence sections render correctly in Obsidian. Each cites the verbatim motifs.md heading.

What NOT to redo

  • Don't re-run the 3 follow-up scans — verdicts are recorded in audit reports and integrated into the wiki.
  • Don't re-apply the 7 Pass 4 back-references — all done; the page-level updated: dates are bumped.
  • Don't re-revise Bridge Card 1 — the Latent-Adjacent reframing is the substantive maximal revision possible in this session; further revisions require either v0d.9 commit or secondary-literature ingest.
  • Don't re-run refresh_baselines.py without first checking for substantive lint findings. The 2026-05-17 session committed the bumped audit count (73 → 74); next session should run dry-run, review, then apply.

Schema-mechanics caveats discovered this session

  1. Subagents cannot Write to .audit/. The structural-isomorphism-scanner subagent is read-only per its SKILL constraints; it returned scan results as assistant-message text. The orchestrator (main thread) wrote the scan reports to wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-2026-05-17-followup/. Future Pass 3 follow-up sessions should account for this in their plans.

  2. Latent-Adjacent provisional verdict authorization is a design gap. Scan C's signature confirmation does NOT itself authorize the verdict — that requires either schema codification (v0d.9) or per-session maintainer authorization. Bridge Card 1's revision adopts the verdict PROVISIONALLY but its apply-mode writes are doubly-gated (sign-off + verdict authorization). This is the design gap the v0d.9 codification would close.

  3. Cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent vs intra-tradition Latent-Adjacent are distinct categories. Scan A confirmed an intra-MP axis-(ii)+/axis-(iii)- pattern (mythical-time vs transtemporality); Scan C confirmed a cross-tradition pattern (Schelling vs Nietzsche-MP). Both share the signature but the cross-tradition variant is what the v0d.9 extension is specifically designed for. Future signature-confirmation runs should be careful to distinguish.

  4. The 7 Pass 4 back-reference applications introduced no new dead wikilinks because all motifs.md headings and cross-page references were verified before insertion. The Pass 4 cap of 10 per run was respected this session (only 7 applied; cap unused from 2026-05-16 run).

  2. wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-2026-05-17-followup/scan-C-unvordenklich-incorporation-cross-tradition.md — the critical finding; second cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent instance + v0d.9 design proposal.
  3. wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-2026-05-17-followup/bridge-card-1-revised.md — the revised bridge card; first card the v0d.9 verdict would authorize.

Suggested session-starter prompt

Resume wiki maintenance from `wiki/.audit/weave-pass3-followup-2026-05-17-handoff.md`
(HEAD: badf8bf).

The 2026-05-17 weave-pass3-followup is complete: 3 Pass 3 scans (intra-MP A,
intra-MP B, cross-tradition Alpha) + 7 Pass 4 back-refs + Bridge Card 1
revision all applied. Critical finding: Scan C confirmed the SECOND
cross-tradition Latent-Adjacent instance, motivating v0d.9 SKILL extension
upgrade from "defer indefinitely" to "design-eligible after second; commit
after third."

What's available to do next (in priority order):

1. (mechanical apply, ~10min) Apply 5 deferred scan-recommendation writes
   (false-friend cautions on enveloping-enveloped, nascent-state,
   unvordenklich, incorporation-of-truth, plus claims.md Counterpressure
note). Drafts ready verbatim in scan reports.

2. (substantive, session-completing if pursued, ~45min) v0d.9 SKILL
   extension design + commit. Schema-changelog amendment v0d.8 → v0d.9;
weave SKILL §"Pass 3" updates; bridge-card-signoff SKILL updates.
Bridge Card 1's revised form is the first card the new verdict would
   authorize.

3. (cheap scan, ~15min) Third cross-tradition scan on `Schelling
   barbarian-principle ↔ MP wild-being`. If returns Latent-Adjacent,
   v0d.9 commit is empirically maximally-warranted.

4. (sign-off, 4-5 subagents) Re-submit revised Bridge Card 1 via
bridge-card-signoff workflow. Requires either (a) v0d.9 first OR
   (b) provisional Latent-Adjacent verdict authorization.

5. (medium-effort, requires reading) Reclassify BLOCKED Bridge Card 2
   (nascent-state-coexistence-silent-key-pair) outside the bridge-card
form per Decision item 5 of prior handoff.

6. (heavier-effort, requires user action) Ingest Lawlor / Dastur /
Madison secondary literature for Bridge Card 1 Iso upgrade
   counter-test.

Tell me which to pursue (or "1+2+3" or "do all the cheap ones").
