UserMemory Snapshot — 2026-04-27
Filed in support of v0c migration Pass 4 (Phase 8 — synthetic-layer assembly).
Per CLAUDE.md General Rule 17: user memories nominate; artifacts authorize. This snapshot is nominative only. None of these theses authorize promotion above candidate in wiki/claims.md — promotion to live or higher requires extraction-note, source-page, audit-report (traceably anchored), or targeted raw-source checks.
Per v0c-migration-kickoff.md Hard Blocker 2: snapshot scope is only wiki-relevant thesis nominations, claim candidates, and interpretive principles. Personal memories, current-task state, and unrelated context are out of scope.
Provenance
The seed claim candidates the kickoff lists (11 entries, with merge of 10+12) are the principal crystallization of userMemory-derived theses for Pass 4. This snapshot reproduces them for the audit-record without committing them to claims.md. Promotion of any candidate proceeds only after artifact-anchor verification per Phase 8 Step 8.2.6.
The auto-memory system at /Users/jeffreyvd/.claude/projects/-Users-jeffreyvd-Documents-wikiwip/memory/ currently contains two non-wiki-relevant feedback memories (anti-summarization in ingest; ultraplan handoff workflow). No wiki-relevant thesis nominations live there as of this snapshot date. The kickoff document is therefore the load-bearing nominative source.
Wiki-relevant thesis nominations (from kickoff seed list)
The 11 candidates are reproduced below with their kickoff-specified artifact anchor needs. Status assignments below are as recorded in the kickoff, not as resolved by Phase 8 (resolution happens in Phase 8 walk and ends up in claims.md proper).
- Science secrète as Stiftung-chiasm joint operation, painting as enacted unity. Type: thesis-central. Anchor needed: E&M extraction note + VI extraction note (Nov 1960 working note Fr 320–321). Reformulated per Pass 1 commit B2: depend on E&M + VI extraction notes only; Saint Aubert moves to Counterpressure / Limits.
- November 1960 "Time and chiasm" note has Stiftung as grammatical operative subject; chiasm as intelligibility-condition. Type: philological / thesis-central. Anchor needed: V&I extraction note + targeted raw read of 320–321 Fr (artifact-conservatism rule).
- Cryptic institution extends Beith's tripartite passivity into a fourth mode engaging painting, E&M, science secrète, déformation cohérente. Type: corrective / genealogical. Anchor needed: Beith extraction note + E&M extraction note + Faul "Ontologically Interactive Painting" extraction note. Faul not in
raw/— evidence gap. - Valéry "dit Valéry" attribution traces to Mauvaises pensées (Pléiade Œuvres II), not Degas Danse Dessin; Valéry's 1942 somatic se déforme predates Malraux's 1951. Type: philological. Anchor needed: Valéry Œuvres II extraction note + E&M cross-reference + Malraux Voices of Silence. Valéry Œuvres II not in
raw/— evidence gap. - Faul belongs in the institutional camp alongside Kaushik, not an ethical/existential camp; Paper A's distinguishing move is cryptic institution. Type: corrective. Anchor needed: Faul extraction note + Kaushik extraction notes. Faul not in
raw/— evidence gap. - Déformation cohérente is MP's coinage rather than Malraux's (per Galen Johnson). Type: attribution / philological. Anchor needed: Johnson essay in johnson-carbone-saintaubert-2020-poetic-of-the-world. The 2026-04-23 extraction note records the concept reference but not the attribution thesis — evidence gap pending Johnson re-read.
- Within the ingested secondary corpus, no source occupies the full four-element synthesis (science secrète + déformation cohérente + chiasm + Stiftung). Type: thesis-central / corrective. Negative-evidence claim, scoped to ingested corpus only. Counterpressure must enumerate explicit checks against Carbone, Fóti, Johnson, Kaushik, Saint Aubert, Beith, Chouraqui, Faul, Andén, Kee. Literature-search beyond ingested corpus needed for broader claim.
- Heinbokel's déformation cohérente usage is in a medical-phenomenology register; not a close competitor. Type: per kickoff, better treated as false-friend caution on
coherent-deformationpage, not a claim. Reframe option: if genuinely contested in secondary literature, promote tocorrectiveclaim with rival reading documented. - Kaushik treats Stiftung primarily through literary language; never connects science secrète to indirect ontology via the painter's body. Type: gap-identification / corrective. Anchor: Kaushik 2019 and 2021 extraction notes (in
raw/). 10+12 (merge). Ineinander universalizes what institution discovered phenomenologically into a principle coextensive with Being itself; the symbolic matrix is an instance of Ineinander operating in the restricted domain of temporal-historical sense-genesis (corollary). Type: structural / interpretive. Anchor: V&I extraction note + Kaushik 2019 + PoP + I&P extraction notes. - The I&P (1954–55) → PoP (1958–61) trajectory supports architectural hierarchy: Stiftung provides temporal mechanism; indirect ontology is framework; later work presupposes rather than abandons the earlier concept. Type: genealogical. Anchor: I&P + PoP extraction notes (with attention to PoP §2 of Oct 1960 draft chapter and p.79 Heidegger malaise passage).
False-friend / non-claim notes
- Empirical confirmation observation: an LLM ingester failed to extract science secrète after 15 prior MP sources. Per kickoff: belongs in Open Questions on science-secrete as external observation, not a claim. The "page citing itself" problem — wiki cannot use its own architecture as evidence for a claim about that architecture.
Interpretive principles (recurrent in user-direction across sessions)
These are not claim candidates but durable framings the user has applied to the corpus. Per Rule 17 they remain nominative; they may motivate but not authorize:
- The H_synth thesis (science secrète = Stiftung diachronic + chiasm synchronic + painting as enacted unity) is positioned against the dominant spatial-chiasmic reading of the secondary literature (Carbone, Fóti, Johnson, Kaushik). The wiki's role is to make the axis visible without privileging it.
- Painting as enacted unity (E&M as enactment-site) over painting as illustration (E&M as application of V&I).
- Indirect ontology as problem-space subsuming Chouraqui's intra-ontology, Saint Aubert's ontologie indirecte, MP's own indirect method, and the Klee fundamental/indirect/absolute painting cluster — operationalized in v0c migration Pass 3a as the indirect-ontology concept page.
- Silent-key recovery (single-attestation positionally-load-bearing terms) as a methodological tool — operationalized as Pass 3 Part C of the v0c ingest workflow following the 2026-04-25 audit Phase 2 dual-pilot pass.
- Artifact conservatism / retrospective relevance (older extraction notes may need targeted raw checks when their passages become evidence for new synthetic claims) — operationalized as v0c General Rule 18.
What this snapshot does not contain
- Personal memories outside wiki-relevant thesis content.
- Current-task or session-specific state.
- Privileged interpretive verdicts that would bypass the artifact-anchor requirement.
- Any thesis whose only support is "the user said so." Such claims either have artifact anchors (and are nominated above) or do not enter
claims.md.
Status of this snapshot for Phase 8
This snapshot is consulted by Phase 8 Step 8.2 Walk Order item 5 ("user-memory thesis nominations"). The artifact-anchor verifications happen at Step 8.2.6 (seed candidates), with the discipline that a candidate without artifact anchor stays at candidate and the evidence gap goes into Counterpressure rather than being promoted on user-memory authority alone.
The snapshot's effective lifespan is the duration of the v0c migration's Phase 8 first run. After Pass 4 commits, the snapshot becomes a permanent audit-record artifact of which user-memory-derived theses were considered, which were artifact-authorized into claims.md, and which remained at candidate with evidence gaps. Subsequent audits update this snapshot's status by reference to claims.md rather than by replacing the snapshot.
Pass 4 preliminary triage (handoff to next session)
This triage was done at session-end on 2026-04-27 to capture the candidate-by-candidate disposition before Pass 4 substantive work begins. The next session should validate this triage rather than re-derive it (faster) but should not treat it as authoritative — artifact-anchor verification still happens at promotion time.
Live-candidate (3-test gate likely passes; promote first walk)
- Candidate 1 (reformulated per Pass 1 commit B2): Science secrète names the joint operation of Stiftung (diachronic) and chiasm (synchronic), with painting as exemplary enactment. Anchors: E&M extraction note (line 35 single attestation, §1/§2 hinge placement) + V&I extraction note (Nov 1960 "Time and chiasm" working note, line 2887 of extraction note). Counterpressure: dominant secondary reading (Carbone, Fóti, Johnson, Kaushik) takes chiasm/flesh as architectonic centre; Saint Aubert framework moves to Limits per B2.
- Candidate 7: Within ingested secondary corpus, no source occupies the full four-element synthesis. Negative-evidence claim, scoped to ingested corpus only. Counterpressure must enumerate explicit checks — corpus is
wiki/sources/.extraction-*.mdminus MP-primary and minus Sartre-1984 (which is itself secondary-on-MP). Promote with the enumeration written into the entry. - Candidate 9: Kaushik treats Stiftung primarily through literary language; never connects science secrète to indirect ontology via the painter's body. Anchors: Kaushik 2019 (
.extraction-kaushik-2019-matrixed-ontology.md) + Kaushik 2021 (.extraction-kaushik-2021-negation-implex.md). Counterpressure: Kaushik does engage painting (2019 ch. 2 on Schelling's light); the gap is primary framing, not exclusion. 10+12 (merge). Ineinander universalizes institution into ontology; symbolic matrix is an instance of Ineinander in restricted domain. Anchors: V&I extraction note + Kaushik 2019 + PoP + I&P extraction notes. Counterpressure: Saint Aubert reads surrection as replacing Ineinander; Kaushik reads symbolic matrix as already ontological (which complicates the "instance of" framing). - Candidate 11: I&P (1954–55) → PoP (1958–61) supports architectural hierarchy: Stiftung mechanism, indirect ontology framework, later work presupposes earlier. Anchors: I&P + PoP extraction notes (with attention to PoP §2 of Oct 1960 draft chapter and p. 79 Heidegger-malaise passage per kickoff). Counterpressure: dominant reading sees later work as moving away from institution toward chiasm/flesh.
Live target: 5 promotions on first walk. Within kickoff cap (~10–15). Could optionally walk extraction-note Diagnostics "unstated question" entries for 1–2 additional candidates if budget allows.
Candidate (evidence gap; do not promote, record gap in Counterpressure)
- Candidate 2: November 1960 working note's Stiftung as grammatical operative subject. V&I extraction note has the line 2887 quote, but per General Rule 18 (artifact conservatism / retrospective relevance) the older extraction note may not have captured the cross-source importance. Targeted raw check of V&I Fr 320–321 needed before promotion. Stay candidate; record raw-check requirement in Counterpressure.
- Candidate 3: Cryptic institution as fourth mode of Beith's tripartite passivity. Faul "Ontologically Interactive Painting" not in
raw/. Evidence chain broken. Stay candidate with explicit Faul-ingest precondition. - Candidate 4: Valéry "dit Valéry" attribution philological. Valéry Œuvres II (Pléiade) not in
raw/. Stay candidate with Valéry-ingest precondition. - Candidate 5: Faul institutional-camp classification. Same Faul gap. Stay candidate.
- Candidate 6: Déformation cohérente as MP coinage rather than Malraux's. Johnson 2020 extraction note has the concept reference (Ch 6: "There is signification when we submit the data of the world to a 'coherent deformation' — S, 68/54") but does not contain the attribution thesis. Per Rule 17, user-memory cannot authorize without artifact anchor. Either (a) targeted re-read of Johnson essay (the 2026-04-25 audit already deferred this — log line 804), or (b) stay candidate. Recommend: stay candidate; flag Johnson re-read as Phase 8 follow-up task.
Not a claim (false-friend caution to add to concept page)
- Candidate 8: Heinbokel's déformation cohérente in medical-phenomenology register. Heinbokel 2024 file in
raw/(uploaded between Phase 1 and Phase 6 of the 2026-04-25 audit per log line 885) but not yet ingested. Per kickoff: better as false-friend caution on[[coherent-deformation]]page with explicit "different domain" framing. Add Open Questions entry on coherent-deformation.md as part of Pass 4, not as claim entry. Heinbokel ingest is a separate backlog task.
Supported-gate (R8 halt — DO NOT promote in Claude Code mode)
No candidates plainly supported-gate-ready on first walk. Conservative first-run target is 0 supported promotions. Per AUDIT_PLAN R8: any supported-gate consideration halts and writes the question to wiki/.audit/phase-8-supported-confirmations-2026-04-27.md for follow-up message. The 5-test supported gate (clarity + traceability + counterpressure + payoff + survives strongest-counter restatement) is intentionally demanding; first run should not push it.
Phase 8 walk-order remaining
After the kickoff-seed walk, Phase 8 Step 8.2 specifies walking these in order:
- Extraction-note Diagnostics + Recurring Motifs sections. 32 extraction notes; "unstated question this text answers" entries are claim-candidates by structure. Sample 5–6 high-yield ones (E&M, V&I, I&P, PoP, Beith, Knight) for additional candidates beyond kickoff seed list.
- Source-page "What's Not Obvious" sections. Same logic; insights that wouldn't survive conventional summary.
wiki/motifs.mdBRIDGE entries. 7 cross-tradition entries are structural-parallel claim-candidates: asymmetric bi-directionality (Schelling↔MP) — already operationalized as connection on chiasm.md, dass-was-distinction.md per 2026-04-23; thinking-away/unvordenklich ↔ incorporation-of-truth; self-falsification ↔ chiasm; circulus-vitiosus-deus ↔ V&I; granite-of-fate; Stiftung Husserl↔MP — now on stiftung.md; Bergson↔MP↔Deleuze. The Stiftung BRIDGE is now covered by stiftung.md; the others may yield 1–3 additional structural-parallel claim entries.- Prior audit reports in
wiki/.audit/. Apply Rule 17 second paragraph: audit-report authorization requires traceable anchors cited in the report itself. The Phase 1 paper-A-gaps report and the Phase 2 silent-keys report both cite traceable anchors and qualify; the Phase 4 Saint Aubert backlog cites traceably-anchored material and qualifies; the Phase 6 citation-integrity spot-check is procedural, not claim-authorizing.
Outputs Pass 4 should produce
wiki/claims.mdpopulated (replacing the stub) with the live promotions + candidate entries.wiki/.audit/synthetic-layer-2026-04-27.md(Phase 8 report) with: candidates surveyed (count); promoted to each status; broken evidence chains queued for targeted raw checks (the four Faul/Valéry/Heinbokel gaps); duplicate-merge decisions (10+12 already merged in kickoff); false-friend cautions added with target concept page (Heinbokel → coherent-deformation.md).wiki/.audit/phase-8-supported-confirmations-2026-04-27.mdif any supported-gate candidates emerge during walk (none expected first run).- Update on
[[coherent-deformation]]page: add Heinbokel false-friend caution to Open Questions or false-friend section. - Update on
wiki/index.md:Claim entries: 0becomesClaim entries: N (S supported / L live / C candidate / 0 contested / 0 retired). Index Claims section table populated. Per General Rule 4 v0c companion: claim-entry creation must update both summary and count. - Update on
wiki/overview.md: Recent Activity entry; Current Stats Claim entries. - Append to
wiki/log.md. - Commit message:
audit: Phase 8 — synthetic-layer assembly; N candidates surveyed, K live, 0 supported, 0 concept-page upgrades.
Pass 5 (after Pass 4)
Cite-back from claims.md to concept-page Wiki homes. Per kickoff: live claims get provisional citation "see claims#claim-slug (live claim)"; supported claims get normal citation. Walk the Wiki homes lists in each promoted entry and update the cited concept pages. Commit per concept page so the diff is auditable.
