Phase 8 — Synthetic-Layer Assembly (Twelfth Run, 2026-05-09)

Run framing

Trigger. User-invoked full Phase 8 audit with explicit pre-authorization for any promotions that warrant it: "Do a full phase 8 audit including optional I pre-authorize any promotions that warrant it." Subsequent-run mode. Co-runs not invoked; this run is scoped to Phase 8 plus its companion mechanical work (Step 8.5 cite-back, Step 8.7 reporting, Step 8.8 confidence addendum, Step 8.9 cite-back, close-out).

Operational mode. Claude Code mode under user pre-authorization for supported promotions. The pre-authorization is run-scoped per AUDIT_PLAN.md PF6 framing — supported promotions where the 5-test gate passes proceed automatically; the durable CLAUDE.md §Claim Status Gates rule continues to halt for human review on subsequent runs absent renewed authorization.

Prior state at run start. 116 claim entries (13 supported / 54 live / 48 candidate / 1 contested / 0 retired). Schema v0d.6. Claims register integrity check passed. 442 wiki pages (51 sources / 248 concepts / 119 entities / 21 questions). Cite-back queue from eleventh run discharged earlier 2026-05-09; deferred-supported HALT queue partially discharged earlier 2026-05-09 (2 of 4 eligible promoted; 2 held with documented Test 4/5 failures).

Inputs walked

  1. Existing register state (116 entries) — re-evaluated for ready-to-promote candidates and live entries.
  2. scripts/harvest-claim-candidates.py output (47 raw candidates not in claims.md) — filtered for genuinely-new entries vs. duplicates of existing slugs.
  3. Recent extraction notes with Pass 3 Part D claim candidates: chouraqui-2025-healing-schneider, heidegger-1964-end-of-philosophy, mp-child-psych-CHUNK-D, faul-2024-ontologically-interactive-painting, saintaubert-2023-etre-et-chair.
  4. Eleventh-run residuals (synthetic-layer-2026-05-09-eleventh-run.md): the eleventh run was Heinbokel-scoped and didn't perform a full sweep; this run discharges the broader sweep.
  5. δ-affected supported HALT queue residual (per synthetic-layer-2026-05-09-deferred-supported-promotions.md): 3 candidate-status δ-affected slugs were ineligible at the morning's discharge (deferred to live-promotion only). This run re-evaluates two for candidate→live promotion (taddio-secret-science-as-gestalt-perception, time-as-late-mp-privileged-ontological-clue) and holds one (cryptic-institution-extends-beith) due to the Paper-A specifying-statement gap.

Step 8.4 — Promotions against gates

A. Live → Supported (3 promoted; 2 held)

Five live candidates were evaluated under the 5-test gate via the claim-promotion-reviewer subagent for independent per-test verdict.

  1. mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology → supported (medium)

    • Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 5-test gate. Test 1 PASS (primary-witness vs. exemplification is a sharp interpretive axis a Carbone-Fóti-Johnson-Kaushik reader would oppose without straw-manning); Test 2 PASS (E&M raw 35 / 51-55 verified verbatim; SA-2006 framework correctly framed as 0 science secrète attestations honestly disclosed); Test 3 PASS (five distinct counterpressures); Test 4 PASS (four distinct payoffs — E&M load-bearing, primary-witness specificity preserved, coordinated with δ, Nov 1960 force without inflation); Test 5 PASS (E&M-late-foregrounding-as-artifact objection already absorbed in Counterpressure §4).
    • Significance: γ-successor slug, central architectural role for the post-H_synth wiki layout.
  2. nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject → supported (medium)

    • Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 5-test gate. Test 1 PASS (sharply contestable on two distinct grammatical assertions); Test 2 PASS (V&I raw 2885–2891 verified verbatim, raw 2899–2903 covered in 2026-04-29 targeted raw check); Test 3 PASS (chiasm-vs-Ineinander ambiguity in consequent clause well-articulated); Test 4 PASS (payoff is grammatical-textual, not aggregative; the working note enacts its own articulation through sentence structure); Test 5 PASS (strongest counter-position pre-recorded in Counterpressure §3).
    • Significance: cardinal philological anchor for the Stiftung-chiasm articulation, supporting both the just-promoted kaushik-stiftung-literary-frame and ineinander-universalizes-institution (this morning's promotions).
  3. mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib → supported (medium)

    • Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 5-test gate. Test 1 PASS (sharp, falsifiable; 500-vs-3 statistic is testable); Test 2 PASS (Saint Aubert 2023 I.2 fn 8 verified verbatim against raw/etre et chair chez Merleau-Ponty.md line 171; cross-corroborated in extraction notes); Test 3 PASS (negative-philological / positive-genealogy split pre-empts the Husserlian rejoinder); Test 4 PASS (re-grounds flesh-as-element and donation-en-chair); Test 5 PASS (strongest Husserlian rejoinder already conceded in Counterpressure §2).
    • Significance: lexical-philological corrective central to the wiki's rebuilt account of MP's chair lexicon.

Held at live

  1. pbp-as-pivot-from-language-monograph-to-late-ontology HOLD at live

    • Reviewer: HOLD with Test 5 concerns — the V&I-as-pivot rival sharply weakens the textual-hinge framing; the "voice of no one" passage's primary attestation is V&I 155, not PbP 209. Tests 1–4 PASS.
    • Counterpressure section appended with one-line note documenting the failed test and the path-to-supported (targeted PbP raw-source check OR Kaushik 2021 continuity-vs-pivot adjudication).
  2. language-necessitates-indirect-reduction HOLD at live

    • Reviewer: HOLD with Test 5 concerns — perceptual-faith priority objection is unacknowledged in current Counterpressure. The PoP 1945 preface formulates the indirect-reduction doctrine before PbP 1953–54; if the doctrine is already settled in 1945 on perceptual-faith grounds, then the linguistic case in PbP exemplifies rather than necessitates the indirect form. Tests 1–4 PASS.
    • Counterpressure section appended documenting the failed test and the discharge condition (Counterpressure must explicitly engage the perceptual-faith priority worry).

B. Candidate → Live (5 promoted; 1 held)

Six candidates were evaluated under the 3-test gate via the claim-promotion-reviewer subagent.

  1. taddio-secret-science-as-gestalt-perception → live (speculative) — Reviewer: PROMOTE. The disjunctive Status History gate's condition (a) is satisfied: wiki/concepts/science-secrete.md §Positions §150 records the Taddio bullet articulating the Gestalt-perception reading as a recorded Position; γ-decision propagation supportive but not load-bearing.

  2. time-as-late-mp-privileged-ontological-clue → live (medium) — Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 3-test gate. Test 1 PASS (sharply contestable against dominant flesh/écart/chiasm-centric reception); Test 2 PASS (Morris 2024 anchors verified at extraction-note items 4/24/25/33; IP "time is the model of institution" verified verbatim; V&I particle-physics notes verified at extraction-note line 802; BNF unpublished note correctly framed per Rule 16); Test 3 PASS (four counterpressures including post-γ overlap tracking).

  3. passence-as-mp-presence-of-absence → live (medium) — Reviewer: PROMOTE. The reviewer noted that the prior Status History conflated the 3-test gate (gate-for-live) with the looser uptake-precaution that belongs to supported-grade — single-source dependence is a supported-grade concern, not a live-grade blocker.

  4. dyadic-encounter-presupposes-institution → live (medium) — Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 3-test gate. M-C 2026 Ch 9 §1–§2 verified at extraction-note lines 1120–1227; PoW "lived solipsism" anchor functions as cross-reference traced through León (acceptable for live; advisory note for any future supported push: targeted PoW raw-source check).

  5. chapsal-1960-public-anchor-for-ontology-of-object-rejection → live (medium) — Reviewer: PROMOTE — clean 3-test gate. Chapsal interview anchored at extraction-note lines 10–15 + 324 + 441 + 619 + 638. Reviewer noted the prior Status History's stricter conditions belong to supported-grade, not to live.

Held

  1. cryptic-institution-extends-beith HOLD at candidate
    • Reviewer: HOLD — Test 2 has a residual gap: the claim's positive content (what cryptic names beyond interactive) is what 2026-05-01's status flagged as the remaining bar, and no artifact between 2026-05-02 and 2026-05-09 has supplied the Paper-A-positive specifying-statement. SA-2006 extraction note has zero mentions of cryptic/interactive/Faul/fourth mode; no audit report supplies it; the deferred-supported audit (this morning) independently classifies the slug as still-candidate.
    • Status History appended with the held-at-candidate audit-trail and the 3-disjunctive promotion paths: (a) Paper A draft section, (b) audit report traceably anchored, (c) targeted raw-source scan supplying the cryptic-vs-interactive distinction directly.

C. New entries (3 created at candidate)

Three new candidate entries seeded from extraction-note Pass 3 Part D candidates:

  1. mp-hermeneutic-circle-recognition-institution-unity (Chouraqui 2025 candidate #2, "strong"). Status: candidate / medium. Wiki homes: recognition-and-institution, chiasm, institution, hyper-dialectic. Held at candidate because Chouraqui's structural reading depends on a non-trivial level-of-abstraction choice that the wiki should test against independent uptake before promoting.

  2. heidegger-1964-seinsfrage-as-origin-of-ontological-difference (Heidegger 1964 candidate #2). Status: candidate / medium. Wiki homes: ontological-difference, seinsgeschichte, unthought. Companion to aletheia-wahrheit-1964-self-correction (still candidate); both depend on Handexemplar-marginalia-as-authoritative-for-architecture move that is non-trivial.

  3. gestural-expression-bridges-php-to-prose-of-world (mp-child-psych CHUNK-D candidate #3). Status: candidate / medium. Wiki homes: gestural-expression, indirect-language, primordial-expression. Held at candidate because the gestural-not-linguistic reading and the chronological-overlap with PoW drafting need targeted PoW raw-source check or third-party scholar engagement.

D. Promotion summary

  • 3 live → supported (all under user pre-authorization for the run; all PROMOTE verdicts with clean 5-test gates).
  • 5 candidate → live (all PROMOTE verdicts with clean 3-test gates).
  • 2 live held at live (HOLD verdicts with substantive Test 5 concerns recorded and discharge conditions specified).
  • 1 candidate held at candidate (HOLD verdict with Test 2 specifying-statement gap recorded).
  • 3 new candidate entries created (seeded from extraction-note Pass 3 Part D candidates rated "strong" or "medium").

Step 8.5 — Optional concept-page upgrades

This run's Step 8.5 work was substantially absorbed into the Step 8.9 cite-back step: 5 new ## Synthetic Claims H2 sections were created on previously-uncovered HUB / thesis-central pages as part of the new-claim cite-back work:

  1. recognition-and-institution.md — new SC section for mp-hermeneutic-circle-recognition-institution-unity (candidate); page is the primary wiki home for the Chouraqui 2025 hermeneutic-circle reading. Updated 2026-05-04 → 2026-05-09.

  2. seinsgeschichte.md — new SC section for heidegger-1964-seinsfrage-as-origin-of-ontological-difference (candidate). Page already at 2026-05-09 from prior session.

  3. unthought.md — new SC section for heidegger-1964-seinsfrage-as-origin-of-ontological-difference (candidate). Updated 2026-05-01 → 2026-05-09.

  4. lived-gestural-expression.md (alias of [[gestural-expression]]) — new SC section for gestural-expression-bridges-php-to-prose-of-world (candidate). Updated 2026-05-05 → 2026-05-09.

  5. primordial-expression.md — new SC section for gestural-expression-bridges-php-to-prose-of-world (candidate). Page already at 2026-05-09 from prior session.

In addition, ontology-of-the-object.md received a new ## Synthetic Claims H2 section after the Step 8.9 cite-back agent flagged that the newly-promoted live claim chapsal-1960-public-anchor-for-ontology-of-object-rejection had no concept-page back-reference. Updated 2026-04-30 → 2026-05-09.

Total new SC sections: 6. Cap discipline: ~10–15 concept-page upgrades; this run: 6 directly tied to claim work, well under cap.

No formal v0d "What the Concept Does / What It Rejects / Stakes / Problem-Space" section additions were performed this run. Most HUB / thesis-central pages already received that treatment in the seventh through tenth Phase 8 runs (2026-05-05 to 2026-05-07); the eleventh run (2026-05-09) added silent-key triage upgrades to coherent-deformation, science-as-coherent-deformation, cultural-world. The remaining v0d-coverage gaps (per AUDIT_PLAN.md v1.5 Step 8.5 backlog) are now substantially in the BRIDGE-cluster pages (bridge-card application queue) and in pages covered by the deferred next-actions queue rows.

Step 8.7 — Run summary

Pre-run state: 116 entries (13 supported / 54 live / 48 candidate / 1 contested / 0 retired).

This run's deltas:

Action Count Slugs
live → supported 3 mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology, nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject, mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib
candidate → live 5 taddio-secret-science-as-gestalt-perception, time-as-late-mp-privileged-ontological-clue, passence-as-mp-presence-of-absence, dyadic-encounter-presupposes-institution, chapsal-1960-public-anchor-for-ontology-of-object-rejection
new candidate entries 3 mp-hermeneutic-circle-recognition-institution-unity, heidegger-1964-seinsfrage-as-origin-of-ontological-difference, gestural-expression-bridges-php-to-prose-of-world
live held at live (HOLD verdict, Counterpressure note appended) 2 pbp-as-pivot-from-language-monograph-to-late-ontology, language-necessitates-indirect-reduction
candidate held at candidate (HOLD verdict, Status History note appended) 1 cryptic-institution-extends-beith
concept-page Step 8.5 upgrades (new SC sections) 6 recognition-and-institution, seinsgeschichte, unthought, lived-gestural-expression, primordial-expression, ontology-of-the-object
concept-page Step 8.9 cite-back updates ~30 (per cite-back subagent reports)

Post-run state: 119 entries (16 supported / 56 live / 46 candidate / 1 contested / 0 retired).

Metric Before (run start) After (run end) Delta
Total entries 116 119 +3
supported 13 16 +3
live 54 56 +2
candidate 48 46 −2
contested 1 1 0
retired 0 0 0

Step 8.8 — Post-Phase-8 confidence addendum

Per CLAUDE.md §Workflow: Audit's note on phase order, Phase 7 confidence-recalibration may need to re-pass any pages or claims whose confidence changed because of Phase 8 work.

Confidence values changed in this run: none. All 8 promotions retained their existing confidence rating:

  • mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology: medium (unchanged)
  • nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject: medium (unchanged)
  • mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib: medium (unchanged)
  • taddio-secret-science-as-gestalt-perception: speculative (unchanged; reviewer explicitly recommended retaining speculative for a single-source interpretive proposal until uptake develops)
  • time-as-late-mp-privileged-ontological-clue: medium (unchanged; reviewer explicitly noted "do not raise" given BNF-not-in-raw/)
  • passence-as-mp-presence-of-absence: medium (unchanged)
  • dyadic-encounter-presupposes-institution: medium (unchanged)
  • chapsal-1960-public-anchor-for-ontology-of-object-rejection: medium (unchanged)

The 3 new candidate entries inherit medium confidence per the standard live-eligible heuristic; they're held at candidate for gate reasons documented in their Status History entries, not for confidence reasons.

No Phase 7 addendum pass needed for this Phase 8 run. (Step 8.8 is a structural reminder; the addendum executes only when Phase 8 actually changes confidence values, which it did not here.)

Step 8.9 — Cite-back

Cite-back work was discharged via three parallel subagent runs:

  1. mp-painter-as-primary-witness cite-back — 12 wiki home pages updated (status livesupported); 4 frontmatter updated: bumps (science-secrete, indirect-ontology, chiasm, flesh-as-element).

  2. nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject + mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib cite-backs — 9 pages updated; 1 frontmatter bump (h-synth-reaudit-on-original-textual-basis question page).

  3. 5 candidate→live cite-backs (taddio, time-as-late-mp, passence, dyadic-encounter, chapsal-1960) + 3 new-entry citations (hermeneutic-circle, heidegger-1964-seinsfrage, gestural-expression-bridges) — 19 pages updated (10 cite-back; 9 + 1 new-citation pages); 7 + 4 frontmatter bumps.

Total concept-page touches: ~40 across 3 parallel cite-back subagent runs.

Internal claims.md cite-back updates — 4 stale live references to nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject inside other claim entries' bodies (Counterpressure / Evidence / Status History narrative) updated to supported. This is a within-claims.md cleanup that the parallel subagents' path filters had excluded; performed inline post-subagent-runs.

Anomalies recorded by cite-back subagents:

  • flesh-as-element.md Synthetic Claims section does not list mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib despite being a Wiki home in claims.md. Pre-existing schema gap; not introduced this run; queue for next audit's Step 8.5 sweep.
  • revolution-as-another-stiftung.md and institution.md are wiki cross-references for mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology but not Wiki homes per claims.md frontmatter; status updates applied without updated: bump per the typed-connection-only metadata-change exemption.
  • claims.md science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm entry's contested-status framing is unchanged (this run does not re-touch contested entries; γ-decision propagation is complete from prior runs).

Cap discipline

Cap Limit This run
Live promotions ~10–15 5 (well under)
Supported promotions ~3–5 (run-pre-authorized) 3 (within)
New candidate entries (no formal cap; harvest-driven) 3 (focused)
Concept-page Step 8.5 upgrades ~10–15 6 (well under)
Concept-page Step 8.9 cite-back (no formal cap; promotion-driven) ~40 (per cite-back subagent reports)

All within bounds.

Outputs

  • wiki/claims.md — 8 status changes + 3 new entries + Status History updates on 11 affected entries; 4 internal cite-back fixes for nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject's status.
  • wiki/concepts/{12 pages} — Step 8.9 cite-back for mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology (live → supported).
  • wiki/concepts/{9 pages} + wiki/questions/{1 page} — Step 8.9 cite-back for nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject and mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib.
  • wiki/concepts/{9 pages} — Step 8.9 cite-back for 5 candidate→live promotions.
  • wiki/concepts/{6 pages} — Step 8.9 cite-back creating 6 new ## Synthetic Claims H2 sections (5 from 3 new candidate entries + 1 belated for chapsal-1960-public-anchor-for-ontology-of-object-rejection).
  • wiki/.audit/synthetic-layer-2026-05-09-twelfth-run.md (this report).
  • wiki/log.md — close-out entry (next).
  • wiki/index.md — Claims summary section + count line update (next).
  • wiki/overview.md — count line update (next).

Cross-references

  • wiki/.audit/synthetic-layer-2026-05-09-eleventh-run.md — eleventh run (Heinbokel-scoped; 1 promotion + 3 Step 8.5 silent-key upgrades + 2 Phase 6 corrective fixes; this twelfth run completes the broader sweep).
  • wiki/.audit/synthetic-layer-2026-05-09-deferred-supported-promotions.md — δ-affected supported HALT discharge earlier 2026-05-09 (2 promotions: kaushik-stiftung-literary-frame, ineinander-universalizes-institution).
  • wiki/.audit/citation-integrity-2026-05-09.md — Phase 6 spot-check that uncovered the eleventh-run's claims.md duplication critical-finding (repaired before eleventh-run Phase 8 work).
  • wiki/.audit/audit-synthesis-2026-05-05.md — γ-decision adjudication record; the basis for this run's mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology promotion is the post-γ architectural placement.
  • AUDIT_PLAN.md v1.5 — operational basis for Phase 8 supported-promotion handling (PF6 + R8).
  • CLAUDE.md v0d.6 §Claim Status Gates — durable basis for the 3-test and 5-test gates; the slug-uniqueness invariant added in v0d.6 was upheld throughout this run (verified post-edit by python3 scripts/lint-mechanical.py integrity check).

Notes for next audit

  1. Path-to-supported for held-at-live entries. Two entries were evaluated but held at live with documented Test 5 concerns:

    • pbp-as-pivot-from-language-monograph-to-late-ontology: targeted PbP raw-source check OR Kaushik 2021 continuity-vs-pivot adjudication. PbP itself is not currently a standalone source page in raw/; closure may require ingest of the Husson-Lefort Le problème de la parole (2020) volume.
    • language-necessitates-indirect-reduction: Counterpressure section needs to explicitly engage the perceptual-faith priority worry (PoP 1945's prior articulation of indirect-reduction-on-perceptual-faith-grounds). Either argue PbP retroactively grounds what PoP merely asserted, or soften "necessitates" to "the linguistic case is the most stringent illustration of an already-required indirectness."
  2. Path-to-live for held-at-candidate. cryptic-institution-extends-beith requires the Paper A specifying-statement gap to be discharged. The path is unchanged from 2026-05-01: Paper A draft section, OR audit report traceably anchored, OR targeted raw-source scan supplying the cryptic-vs-interactive distinction directly.

  3. flesh-as-element.md Synthetic Claims gap. The page is a Wiki home for mp-flesh-not-husserl-leib (now supported) but the SC section does not explicitly list this claim. Pre-existing gap; queue for next audit's Step 8.5 sweep.

  4. Maintenance items queued during reviewer process:

    • time-as-late-mp-privileged-ontological-clue: reconcile the IP 36/7 page-number citation with the extraction-note's ([4](3)) location tag.
    • dyadic-encounter-presupposes-institution: targeted PoW raw-source check on "lived solipsism" if later promoted to supported.
  5. Priority cite-back task. The Step 8.9 work for the 3 supported promotions is complete, but claims.md itself contains additional internal live framings of nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject and the other promoted claims inside non-claim-body narrative (Counterpressure / Evidence / Status History sections of other claim entries). 4 such internal references for nov-1960 were updated this run; further sweep pending if more are surfaced.

  6. HUB pages still without v0d optional-section coverage (carried forward from prior runs): pages identified by AUDIT_PLAN.md v1.5 next-actions queue under "bridge-card application" and "δ-affected HIGH priority" — partial discharge in earlier runs; some BRIDGE-cluster pages remain. This run did not formally extend Step 8.5 beyond cite-back-induced new SC sections.
