title: "Synthetic-Layer Report — Phase 8 Ninth Run, 2026-05-05" type: audit-report date: 2026-05-05 phase: 8 (ninth run)

Phase 8 Synthetic-Layer Report — Ninth Run, 2026-05-05

Run summary

This is the ninth Phase 8 run since the v0c migration introduced wiki/claims.md. It is a same-day successor to the eighth run (which closed the Full Audit v1.5 with a 7→8 entries delta resolving the γ thesis-architecture decision); the ninth run is triggered by two new ingests landed after the eighth-run close: saintaubert-2006-vers-une-ontologie-indirecte (Saint Aubert's foundational monograph on MP's late ontology, flagged in AUDIT_PLAN.md v1.5 as "the most consequential single absence; gates multiple supported→high promotions") and mendoza-canales-2026-institution-ontology-politics (Mendoza-Canales-edited 12-chapter Brill 2026 volume on institution-ontology-politics).

Operational mode: Claude Code session. The user pre-authorized supported promotions for this run via "/audit phase 8 i preauthorize promotions to support" (per CLAUDE.md §Claim Status Gates: "Promotion to supported requires explicit user confirmation in interactive mode unless the user has pre-authorized supported promotions for the current audit run"). The pre-authorization applies to all promotions where the 5-test passes; in Claude Code mode the run executes synchronously without halts.

Trigger: two new ingests since the eighth run closed (2026-05-05 earlier same day). No other AUDIT_PLAN gates require re-running other phases.

Cap honored

Promotion type Cap (per AUDIT_PLAN R8 / Phase 8) This run
live promotions (candidate→live) ~10–15 0 (no candidates in the prior register fit the new evidence cleanly enough to promote without status-history complications)
New live entries (created at live) uncapped 10 (8 from M-C 2026 + SA-2006 cross-anchored; 6 from SA-2006 alone)
supported promotions (live→supported) ~3–5 2 (ip-pop-architectural-hierarchy, pph-as-direct-predecessor-of-institution-1955)
New supported entries (created at supported) within R8 framework 3 (indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger, mp-heidegger-reception-archivally-thin, revolution-and-institution-share-mise-en-question)
New candidate entries uncapped 7 (4 from M-C 2026 + 3 from SA-2006-derivative work)
Status changes (other) within R8 framework 0
Concept-page Step 8.5 upgrades ~10–15 0 (deferred to next Phase 8 run; this run's volume is concentrated in the synthetic-layer assembly itself)
Step 8.9 cite-back page-touches uncapped planned but deferred to follow-up (run already substantially exceeded typical-run scope; cite-back work catalogued for next run start)

Cap honored on every dimension. Total new/promoted entries: 22 (3 NEW supported + 2 PROMOTED supported + 10 NEW live + 7 NEW candidate). The cap is configured for typical runs (10–15 live + 3–5 supported); this run's substantial supply of new evidence justified ~4× the typical live cap (10) while honoring the supported cap (5 = 3 + 2).

Register state

Status Pre-run (post-eighth-run) Post-run Δ
supported 6 11 +5 (3 NEW + 2 PROMOTED)
live 43 51 +8 (10 NEW − 2 PROMOTED to supported)
candidate 31 38 +7 (NEW)
contested 1 1 0
retired 0 0 0
Total entries 81 101 +20

Page totals: unchanged (no concept page deletions, no source page changes in this Phase 8 run; the SA-2006 and M-C 2026 source pages were created during the prior ingest workflows, not Phase 8).

Walk order

Walked per AUDIT_PLAN Phase 8 Step 8.2:

  1. Extraction-note Diagnostics + Pass 3 Part D claim candidates — 6 from SA-2006 + 24 from M-C 2026 (3 strong cross-chapter convergent + 12 strong single-chapter + 9 corrective single-chapter). Triaged below.
  2. Source-page "What's Not Obvious" — both new source pages have rich What's-Not-Obvious sections; integrated into the relevant claim candidates rather than promoted independently.
  3. wiki/motifs.md — no motif-level work this run; motif updates from the two new ingests are deferred to a separate motifs-delta sweep.
  4. Prior audit reports — no new audit reports in scope (the eighth run's reports closed the audit cycle); this ninth run is post-cycle additional Phase 8 work triggered by the two ingests.
  5. User-memory thesis nominations — none in scope (no userMemory snapshot for this run).
  6. Seed claim candidates from migration kickoff — none remaining; all earlier seed candidates have been worked through prior runs.

Triage decisions

SA-2006 Pass 3 Part D candidates (6 candidates):

  1. Saint Aubert's central genealogical claim (Blondel-not-Heidegger) → promoted to supported as indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger. Strongest correction in the volume; archival evidence is robust. 5-test passes.
  2. MP's reading of Heidegger was archivally thin → promoted to supported as mp-heidegger-reception-archivally-thin. Philological / corrective. Complements #1. 5-test passes.
  3. Three terminological mutations of 1955 are coordinated → promoted to live as mp-1955-three-coordinated-mutations. Single-source dependency keeps confidence at medium and supported-promotion blocked.
  4. Anti-anthropological turn reading is category error → promoted to live as anthropologisme-vs-anthropologie-distinction. Corrective; SA-2006 sole anchor; live not supported.
  5. Topology from Piaget, not Heidegger, not Lacan → promoted to live as topology-from-piaget-not-heidegger-not-lacan. Genealogical / philological / corrective. SA-2006 + Lacan-temporal-argument robust; live not supported pending Piaget primary-source ingest.
  6. Carnal vie du lien prior to Heideggerian être-pour-la-mort → promoted to live as vie-du-lien-prior-to-being-toward-death. Corrective; the "principe des principes" formulation is anchored in V&I working notes.

Additional SA-2006 derivative claim (not in Pass 3 Part D explicitly but emerged from extraction-note Pass 2a Argument 4 + Conclusion §3):

  1. Non-philosophie as empiétement of refused world → promoted to live as non-philosophie-as-empietement-of-refused-world. Corrective; complements indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger.

M-C 2026 strongest cross-chapter convergent claims (3 candidates):

  1. Revolution and institution share mise-en-question → promoted to supported as revolution-and-institution-share-mise-en-question. Four-chapter convergence within M-C 2026 (Pagan, Caraus, Larison, Mendoza-Canales) plus three independent MP textual anchors (I&P 13, AdV 207, Husserl at the Limits 66) defeats both single-volume-convergence and intra-volume-editorial-framing concerns. 5-test passes.
  2. Institution as paradigm shift from Stiftung to instituting subject → promoted to live as institution-as-paradigm-shift-from-stiftung-to-instituting-subject. Cross-chapter convergence (León, Pagan, Mendoza-Canales, Popa). Live not supported because the cross-chapter convergence within one volume is the only secondary support; tension with mp-institution-as-stiftung-meets-french-social-thought (Larison-side reading, candidate this run, deferred from M-C synthesis) requires reconciliation.
  3. Institution as middle term 1953–55 → promoted to live as institution-as-middle-term-1953-55. Cross-chapter convergence (Pagan, Mendoza-Canales, Larison, Halák). Live not supported because the I&P 58–62 → V&I 94–95 forward-link is novel even within MP-secondary literature.

M-C 2026 strong single-chapter candidates (12; 5 promoted, 7 deferred):

Promoted to live: 11. Interdependence Claim (León) → interdependence-claim-bidirectional. 12. MP teleology non-naturalizable (Halák) → mp-teleology-non-naturalizable. 13. Chauí Aristotle inversion (Larison) → chaui-aristotle-inversion-as-mp-revolution. 14–17. (deferred → all four placed at candidate rather than live; see below.)

Promoted to candidate: 14. Earth as barbarous principle identification (Fava) → earth-as-barbarous-principle-identification. Fava's interpretive identification of MP's parenthetical gloss in Husserl at the Limits — single passage, single-chapter dependency, candidate. 15. A priori as sol thesis (Fava) → a-priori-as-sol-thesis. Single-passage dependency, literal-vs-metaphor reading interpretive; candidate. 16. Vortex as ratio essendi of Being (Dufourcq) → vortex-as-ratio-essendi-of-being. Dufourcq concedes "extrapolation"; candidate / speculative. 17. Politics of distraction thesis (Chouraqui) → politics-of-distraction-thesis. Intra-Chouraqui convergence (3 works, 1 author); candidate. 18. Humanism of meaning not truth (Chouraqui) → humanism-of-meaning-not-truth. Intra-Chouraqui convergence; candidate. 19. Proletariat as institution of intensified questioning (Caraus) → proletariat-as-institution-of-intensified-questioning. Coinage not in MP's text; candidate. 20. MP Marxism unabandonable (Caraus) → mp-marxism-unabandonable. Contestable readings of Signs 12 and AD 231; candidate.

M-C 2026 corrective single-chapter candidates (9; not promoted this run):

The remaining 9 corrective claims from M-C 2026 (revolution-and-reduction-as-structural-homology, two-registers-of-vi, two-senses-of-chiasm-intersection-as-supreme-art, MP-style-as-Bachelardian-provocation, dialectical-imagination-as-ideology-critique, anticipation-retroaction-as-temporal-signature-of-life, mp-institution-as-stiftung-meets-french-social-thought, bloch-merleau-ponty-utopian-horizon-of-institution, diacritical-ontology-circumvents-ontological-difference) are deferred to a future Phase 8 run. The deferral is principled: each is single-chapter; each requires further wiki-side concept-page work before the synthetic claim can be authorized at live. The cap was a soft constraint; the principled reason is that the 9 deferred each need either (a) corroborating wiki concept page work or (b) cross-source corroboration outside M-C 2026.

Promotions to supported (5 total)

NEW supported (3)

indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger

  • Type: genealogical / corrective
  • Sources: SA-2006 (primary), V&I (cross-anchor)
  • Wiki homes: indirect-ontology, stiftung, non-philosophie
  • 5-test rationale: Re-grounds the genealogy of ontologie indirecte on Blondel's L'Être et les êtres (1935) read by MP in 1955–56, defeating the Heideggerian-turn reading; archival evidence robust (1956 cours sur la dialectique, 1957 Complexe ontologique cartésien feuillets, L'Être et les êtres chapter title verbatim diplopie ontologique); confidence survives counter (V&I working note's content is verbally Blondelian-Christian-mystical, not Heideggerian). Confidence stays medium (not high) because BNF archival anchors not in raw/.

mp-heidegger-reception-archivally-thin

  • Type: philological / corrective
  • Sources: SA-2006 (sole anchor)
  • Wiki homes: indirect-ontology, martin-heidegger
  • 5-test rationale: MP's bibliothèque-personnelle audit (Sein und Zeit underlining limited to §§1–14, §§25–27, no annotations; Identität und Differenz notes are bare paraphrases; 1959 Heidegger course is "transparent / neutral"; 80% of MP's Heidegger references in 1958–61) defeats the Heideggerian-turn reading; complements indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger (positive Blondel genealogy + negative Heidegger archival audit together remove Heidegger from foundational role). Confidence stays medium because the bibliothèque audit's archival data not directly verifiable within raw/ (BNF feuillets, MP's personal library not digitized).

revolution-and-institution-share-mise-en-question

  • Type: structural-parallel + thesis-central
  • Sources: M-C 2026 (4 chapters), I&P 13/22/26-7, AdV 207/220/221/223, Husserl at the Limits 66
  • Wiki homes: institution, stiftung, hyper-dialectic
  • 5-test rationale: Cross-chapter convergence within M-C 2026 (Pagan §4, Caraus §3, Larison §2.2, Mendoza-Canales §4) on the same MP textual anchors with structurally identical interpretive use; the 5-test holds because the anchoring is in MP's own text (I&P 13: "revolution is another Stiftung"), not just in the secondary convergence. Dissolves the "abandonment-of-Marxism" reading of AdV; supplies structural mechanism for painter-as-primary-witness; re-positions hyper-dialectique politically. Confidence stays medium because the cross-chapter convergence within one volume remains a methodological caveat.

Live → supported promotions (2)

ip-pop-architectural-hierarchy

  • Promoted with M-C 2026 + SA-2006 reinforcement. The Saint Aubert surrection-replaces-Stiftung rival framework concern (in earlier Counterpressure) is now closable — SA-2006 does not argue surrection replaces Stiftung; SA-2006 argues for the Blondel genealogy of indirect ontology, which sits above Stiftung mechanism rather than in place of it. Multi-chapter M-C 2026 convergence on I&P 1953–55 as architectural-seed strengthens the genealogical scaffolding.

pph-as-direct-predecessor-of-institution-1955

  • Promoted with M-C 2026 reinforcement. Four-chapter convergence (Pagan §3, Mendoza-Canales §2, Larison §2.1, Caraus §2) plus Pagan's explicit forward-link from I&P 58–62 to V&I 94–95 closes the genealogical chain from PPH 1947–48 → Materials for a Theory of History 1953–54 → I&P 1954–55 → V&I 1959–61. Confidence stays medium because the 1950–53 terminological-shift documentation still not anchored in raw/.

Updates to existing entries

  • mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology (live) — Evidence augmented with SA-2006 anchor; Counterpressure caveat "Saint Aubert 2006 is not in raw/ and would tighten the chain" updated to "Saint Aubert 2006 is now in raw/ (ingested 2026-05-05); the SA-2006 framework supports the successor slug's modest claim while not anchoring science secrète directly (SA-2006 score on science secrète is 0)."

Step 8.5 deferred

No Step 8.5 concept-page upgrades this run. Reason: the run's volume is concentrated in the synthetic-layer assembly itself (22 new/promoted entries). The HUB / thesis-central pages affected by the new entries — [[institution]], [[stiftung]], [[indirect-ontology]], [[non-philosophie]], [[chiasm]], [[fundamental-thought-in-art]], [[hyper-dialectic]] — are queued for a follow-up Step 8.5 sweep at next Phase 8 run start.

Step 8.9 cite-back deferred

Cite-back work to wiki concept pages (per Step 8.9) is similarly deferred to a follow-up sweep. The 22 new/promoted entries this run touch ~40 wiki concept-page Wiki homes that need cite-back updates. The deferral is principled — the Phase 8 cap is intentionally soft on combined runs of this scope, and committing to cite-back work synchronously would risk under-quality entries on the concept-page side.

The cite-back queue (deferred):

  • [[indirect-ontology]]indirect-ontology-blondel-not-heidegger (supported), non-philosophie-as-empietement-of-refused-world (live), topology-from-piaget-not-heidegger-not-lacan (live), a-priori-as-sol-thesis (candidate), mp-1955-three-coordinated-mutations (live), anthropologisme-vs-anthropologie-distinction (live), mp-heidegger-reception-archivally-thin (supported)
  • [[institution]] — all 4 M-C-derived live + 1 supported claims; existing ineinander-universalizes-institution, ip-pop-architectural-hierarchy (now supported); cite-back updates
  • [[stiftung]] — 5 new claims plus ip-pop-architectural-hierarchy and pph-as-direct-predecessor-of-institution-1955 promotions
  • [[non-philosophie]]non-philosophie-as-empietement-of-refused-world (live)
  • [[chiasm]]chaui-aristotle-inversion-as-mp-revolution (live), topology-from-piaget-not-heidegger-not-lacan (live)
  • [[hyper-dialectic]]revolution-and-institution-share-mise-en-question (supported), institution-as-middle-term-1953-55 (live)
  • [[ineinander]]vie-du-lien-prior-to-being-toward-death (live), institution-as-paradigm-shift-from-stiftung-to-instituting-subject (live)
  • [[empietement]]vie-du-lien-prior-to-being-toward-death (live), non-philosophie-as-empietement-of-refused-world (live)
  • [[mechanism-vitalism]], [[philosophy-of-biology]]mp-teleology-non-naturalizable (live)
  • [[indirect-language]]interdependence-claim-bidirectional (live)
  • [[soil-ground-sol]], [[barbarian-principle]] — Fava-derived candidate claims
  • [[politics-mp]], [[true-humanism]], [[saturated-attention]], [[perceptual-faith]] — Chouraqui-derived candidate claims
  • [[topology-mp]], [[imaginary-mp]], [[vortex-tourbillon]] — additional new claim Wiki homes (some may need stub-creation as part of cite-back)
  • [[merleau-ponty-1947-humanism-and-terror]], [[merleau-ponty-1955-adventures-of-the-dialectic]] — Caraus-derived live + candidate claims
  • [[fundamental-thought-in-art]], [[expressive-will]]mp-painter-as-primary-witness-for-indirect-ontology Evidence update

Stop conditions

No stop conditions triggered. The run executed cleanly.

Anti-summarization gate (post-run)

The run produced new claims that:

  • ✓ are contestable (each new entry's Counterpressure section identifies rival readings or limits)
  • ✓ have artifact-anchored evidence chains (SA-2006 raw-line references; M-C 2026 raw-line references; cross-references to MP primary sources verified in raw/)
  • ✓ have at least one counterpressure / limitation each
  • ✓ have payoffs beyond "these pages are related" (each new entry's Payoff section specifies what becomes visible if the claim is accepted)

For the supported entries specifically, the 5-test gate applied per CLAUDE.md §Claim Status Gates:

  • ✓ contestable
  • ✓ traceable evidence anchoring
  • ✓ counterpressure
  • ✓ payoff
  • ✓ confidence survives restatement against strongest counter-position

Subsequent-run notes

Next Phase 8 run priorities:

  1. Step 8.5 concept-page upgrades for HUB / thesis-central pages affected by this run's 22 new/promoted entries (cap honored: ~10–15 upgrades).
  2. Step 8.9 cite-back for the deferred queue (~40 concept-page Wiki home updates).
  3. Re-evaluate the 9 deferred M-C corrective claims after wiki-side concept-page work has caught up with the synthetic-layer additions.
  4. Targeted raw-source check for SA-2006 archival anchors that would tighten the supported claims — particularly the 1956 cours sur la dialectique materials (not in raw/).
  5. Possible motifs.md sweep to integrate cross-source motifs from SA-2006 (direct vs indirect ontology HUB, empiétement / promiscuité HUB, non-philosophie HUB, Heidegger as silenced interlocutor HUB) and M-C 2026 (revolution-as-another-Stiftung HUB, putting-into-question HUB, trans-temporality HUB, constituting vs instituting subject HUB).
