Date: 2026-04-29 Audit phase: Phase 8 (synthetic-layer assembly), per AUDIT_PLAN.md §Phase 8 + R8 promotion rule, and CLAUDE.md v0d §Workflow: Audit + §Claims Register Format. Operational mode: Claude Code (R8 supported-promotion rule = halt). Inputs: prior reports synthetic-layer-2026-04-27.md and synthetic-layer-2026-04-28.md; wiki/claims.md (19 prior entries: 12 live, 7 candidate, 0 supported); wiki/sources/.extraction-vansorge-2025-painting-as-framing.md; wiki/motifs.md BRIDGE section (7 cross-tradition entries); raw V&I, SW&WE 1953, and Johnson 2020 Poetic of the World for targeted checks; AUDIT_PLAN.md §Phase 8 + R8 + §Subsequent runs; CLAUDE.md v0d §Claims Register Format + §Sourcing Rules for Claims. Cap (per Step 8.6 / subsequent-run guidance): this run focused on (a) walking the deferred BRIDGE motifs (carry-forward from both prior runs), (b) discharging the deferred raw checks for sources already in raw/, (c) walking the van Sorge ingest's residual claim candidates. Concept-page upgrades (Step 8.5) deferred to next run. New live promotions: 4 (one genealogical, three structural-parallel). Status changes on existing entries: 2 candidate → live promotions + 1 evidence-discharge update.

Walked per AUDIT_PLAN.md §Step 8.2:

  1. Extraction-note Diagnostics + Recurring Motifs (van Sorge 2025) — read Pass 3 Part D (3 candidates: mp-painting-account-too-presence-bound, parergon-cezanne-mp-outlines-structural-parallel, embodied-act-of-framing-as-mp-derrida-synthesis) and the Diagnostics section. Result: van Sorge Pass 3 Part D was already discharged at ingest — claims 1 and 2 are in claims.md (live + candidate respectively); claim 3 was correctly excluded as a source-internal thesis. The Diagnostics surface no additional latent claim above what the ingest captured. Walk closed without new entries.

  2. Source-page "What's Not Obvious" — deferred again per cap (carry-forward from 2026-04-27 + 2026-04-28); explicitly re-deferred to next run (E&M, V&I, I&P, PoP, Beith, Knight).

  3. wiki/motifs.md BRIDGE entries — walked all 7 cross-tradition entries:

    • circulus vitiosus deus (Nietzsche ↔ MP) → promoted to live as new claim circulus-vitiosus-deus-mp-ontology-of-ontology (genealogical: MP's only direct Nietzsche citation, BGE 56 → V&I Feb 1959 working note 179/231; Chouraqui 2014 + 2016 architectural reading).

    • Bergsonian *durée* + *naissance continue* (Bergson ↔ MP ↔ Deleuze) → promoted to live as new claim bergson-mp-deleuze-naissance-continue (structural-parallel: three-tradition convergence; Décarie-Daigneault 2025 + Carbone 2015 Ch 5 + I&P + IPoP §II).
    • self-falsification ↔ chiasm (Nietzsche ↔ MP) → deferred to next run. The structural parallel is supportable but folds naturally into the broader circulus-vitiosus-deus-mp-ontology-of-ontology framing; promoting it as a separate claim risks duplicating the Chouraqui-architectural-anchor without adding distinctive evidence. Re-evaluate at next run as a possible Chouraqui-thesis claim if the wiki ingests an additional Chouraqui-side commentary.
    • granite of fate (Nietzsche ↔ MP) → deferred to next run. Single secondary source (Chouraqui 2014) and narrow philological scope (Schopenhauer 1874 Nachlass 34[21] as middle term). Re-evaluate if a second source addresses MP's granite-of-fate register.
    • Stiftung / institution (Husserl ↔ MP) → already saturated by existing live claims (science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm, ineinander-universalizes-institution, ip-pop-architectural-hierarchy, kaushik-stiftung-literary-frame, nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject (now live), language-necessitates-indirect-reduction). No new entry; the BRIDGE motif's wiki-home distribution is already adequate.

  4. Prior audit reports in wiki/.audit/ — re-examined synthetic-layer-2026-04-27.md, synthetic-layer-2026-04-28.md, paper-a-gaps-2026-04-25.md, silent-keys-2026-04-25.md, saint-aubert-backlog.md, citation-integrity-2026-04-25.md, citation-integrity-2026-04-28.md. No new authorization-relevant content for this run beyond what BRIDGE walk already used.

  5. User-memory thesis nominations — none specific to this run (no fresh snapshot beyond userMemory-snapshot-2026-04-27.md). Per Rule 17, no further user-memory authorization needed for this run's promotions; all are artifact-grounded.

  6. Seed claim candidates (deferred raw checks) — the three deferred raw checks named in 2026-04-28 handoff §Next-audit-run for sources already in raw/:

    • V&I Fr 320–321 for nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject — performed against Lawlor English edition (V&I raw lines 2885–2891 + immediate local context 2899–2903). The English-translation grammar supports the philological reading: "The Stiftung of a point of time can be transmitted..." (subject + verb-phrase) "...the moment that one understands time as chiasm" (conditional). The "new type of intelligibility" framing in lines 2899–2903 corroborates the synchronic-condition-of-intelligibility reading for chiasm. Promotion to live. Confidence raised from low to medium. French Gallimard 1964 original at Fr 320–321 not in raw/; remaining soft spot recorded in Counterpressure (translator preserved the syntactic structure, so the English check is adequate for live but not for supported).

    • SW&WE 2020 pp. 45 / 50 for the 1953 first-naming sub-thesis of language-as-missing-case-of-lateral-universal — performed against the 1953 raw at lines 1587 + 1651. Two attestations of "lateral universality" found, with manuscript locator [53]v(IV9). The deferred 1953 first-naming sub-thesis is now direct-source-anchored. The page-number correspondence (pp. 45, 50 in the 2020 Northwestern UP edition) cannot be verified against the manuscript-locator-keyed raw transcription, but the substantive content stands. The claim's Counterpressure has been updated to discharge the raw check; status remains live (no escalation to supported because the broader missing-example framing still depends on Lau's reading).

    • Johnson 2020 re-read for deformation-coherente-mp-coinage — performed against Merleau-Pontys Poetic of the World raw. Located the attribution argument in Johnson's Ch 3 ("From the World of Silence to Poetic Language: Merleau-Ponty and Valéry"), specifically footnote 29 at raw line 3364: "the phrase 'coherent deformation' is Merleau-Ponty's own, a creative deformation of Malraux's text, one might say." The footnote attaches to body text at raw line 1997 and supplies the Malraux philological frame (Pléiade Les voix du silence 1951 p. 322, second volume La création esthétique of Psychologie de l'art trilogy). Promotion to live. Confidence raised from speculative to medium. Malraux not in raw/; remaining soft spot is the Malraux-side textual check (would Malraux's text show the conjoined phrase anywhere? Johnson asserts no; not raw-verified).

Triage decisions

  • De-duplication: checked the 4 new BRIDGE-derived live entries against the 19 existing entries. No duplication. The closest cross-reference is circulus-vitiosus-deus-mp-ontology-of-ontology ↔ science-secrete-stiftung-chiasm (both involve form of MP's late ontology); the new claim adds the Nietzschean circulus-figure as a distinct architectural anchor, while the joint-operation claim addresses the Stiftung-chiasm articulation. The two claims are coordinate, not duplicative. Cross-reference noted in each claim's Payoff section.

  • False-friend caution: none added this run. Two BRIDGE entries (self-falsification ↔ chiasm; granite-of-fate) were considered for promotion but deferred rather than rejected; the deferral rationale is preserved in the Walk-order section above.

  • Artifact conservatism (Rule 18): applied to all three deferred raw checks. None of the three exposed a discrepancy with prior extraction notes. The V&I check confirmed the working-note's grammatical structure; the SW&WE check confirmed the 1953 first-naming attestation; the Johnson check confirmed the attribution argument. Rule 18's failure mode (older extraction note misreads the passage) did not occur in any of the three checks.

Promotions against gates (R8)

  • Live promotions (3-test gate, no R8 halt): 6 total. 4 new entries (circulus-vitiosus-deus-mp-ontology-of-ontology, schelling-mp-asymmetric-bi-directionality, wegdenken-incorporation-being-precedes-thinking, bergson-mp-deleuze-naissance-continue) + 2 candidate→live promotions (nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject, deformation-coherente-mp-coinage). All passed: (1) contestability (each has an explicit weaker reading or rival framing in Counterpressure); (2) traceable anchors (each evidence bullet ties to extraction-note or raw-source attestations); (3) ≥1 counterpressure (each has multiple).

  • Supported promotions (5-test gate, R8 halt in Claude Code mode): 0 considered. None of the new live entries plainly meets the 5-test gate on first walk:

    • circulus-vitiosus-deus-mp-ontology-of-ontology → counterpressure includes Heidegger-Löwith parallel reception; payoff is interpretive synthesis; would require ingestion of Heidegger's Nietzsche lectures to test the mediation question before supported.
    • schelling-mp-asymmetric-bi-directionality → counterpressure includes structural-vs-genealogical distinction and Gardner-terminology layer; would require an additional Schelling-MP comparative source.
    • wegdenken-incorporation-being-precedes-thinking → single secondary source per route; would require a third route or an explicit secondary-source statement of the parallel.
    • bergson-mp-deleuze-naissance-continue → single secondary source for the convergence claim (Décarie-Daigneault 2025); Bergson and Deleuze not in raw/; would require ingesting one of these or a second secondary source.
    • nov-1960-stiftung-grammatical-subject (newly live) → French Gallimard 1964 original not in raw/; would require the French edition or an explicit secondary source on the philological grammar.
    • deformation-coherente-mp-coinage (newly live) → Malraux not in raw/; would require a Malraux-side textual check or a second secondary source corroborating Johnson's coinage attribution.

    R8 honored without filing follow-up confirmations; the conservative subsequent-run target was 0 supported promotions, which was met.

Concept-page upgrades (Step 8.5)

Out of scope this run. Pass 3 of the v0c migration discharged the upgrade quota; the 2026-04-28 run continued to defer; this run also defers. Subsequent runs should cycle to a different set of HUB / thesis-central pages until coverage is even.

The 2026-04-28 handoff §Next-audit-run flagged the deferred extraction-note Diagnostics + Recurring Motifs sample (E&M, V&I, I&P, PoP, Beith, Knight) for concept-page upgrades. This remains deferred; the new BRIDGE-derived claims this run do not require the upgrades for cite-back, but a future run should walk this list.

Cite-back (Step 8.9)

Cite-back to concept pages is queued for a separate commit to keep this commit's diff auditable. The 6 live entries' Wiki homes lists need updating:

Stop conditions encountered

None. No untraceable seed candidate forced retreat to verbal/informal support (Rule 17 hard rule held); no targeted-raw-check exposed a discrepancy (all three checks confirmed the deferred theses); cap not exceeded (6 live, 0 supported, well within 10–15 / 3–5 budget; concept-page upgrades not in scope this run).

Carry-forward to next audit run

For the next audit run that includes Phase 8:

Bottom line

The third Phase 8 run produces 4 new live claim entries (all from the deferred BRIDGE motifs walk) plus 2 candidate→live promotions (both from discharged raw checks). The register grows from 19 to 23 entries (18 live + 5 candidate + 0 supported); the live count grows from 12 to 18. The four new live claims add Nietzsche-MP, Schelling-MP, Schelling-Nietzsche-MP, and Bergson-MP-Deleuze cross-tradition structural-parallel / genealogical theses to the synthetic layer — broadening the wiki's cross-tradition coverage beyond the Husserl-MP master pairing that dominated prior runs. Three deferred raw checks all confirmed without exposing artifact-conservatism discrepancies. Zero supported promotions: R8 honored; the conservative subsequent-run target was 0 supported promotions, which was met. Cite-back to 6 wiki-home page sets is queued for separate commit.

Phase 7 addendum (post-Phase-8 confidence recalibration)

Per CLAUDE.md v0d §Workflow: Audit and AUDIT_PLAN.md §Step 8.8: after Phase 8 completes, perform a confidence-addendum review of any concept page or claim entry whose confidence may have changed because of synthetic-layer assembly.
