Silent-Key Scan — Phase 2 Report

Audit phase: Phase 2 (per AUDIT_PLAN.md v1.3)
Scope: primary MP sources (E&M, PhP, V&I) + Course 3 of Nature + Kaushik 2019 + Carbone 2015. PhP of Perception re-read selectively given its size. PoP scan deferred per AUDIT_PLAN ("lower priority for fresh silent-key discovery; could yield a residue but the bar is now higher" given the 2026-04-21 re-ingest already surfaced rose, soil/Boden, third-domain).
Paper A's H_synth thesis frames the audit but does not pre-name candidates beyond science secrète in E&M. The two pilots (E&M = validation case, PhP = blind pilot) jointly determine whether Phase 0b can commit the silent-key scan wording into CLAUDE.md.
1. Pilot results
1a. E&M validation case (S1)
Known target: science secrète. Cluster cognates: "pictorial science" (Da Vinci, §4), "silent science" (Rilke, §4) — same cluster, slightly different wording.
The scan was run by re-reading the existing extraction note's Recurring Motifs (fire/spark, pool/water, birth/genesis, circuit/circle, enchantment/magic, questioning/interrogation, thickness/épaisseur), then re-reading raw E&M with the silent-key prompt: up to three terms used sparingly that do argumentative work out of proportion to frequency, not in the motif tracker.

Validation verdict: PASS. The protocol surfaces the known target. It also surfaces two not-pre-named candidates, both of which survive triage (§3 below). This is more productive than the validation requires.
1b. PhP blind pilot (S1)
No pre-named target. The PhP extraction note's motif tracker carries: I-can vs. I-think, au monde, motivation, sedimentation, reflection-upon-an-unreflected, Cézanne, ambiguity, Schneider, anonymity, the unfinished. The blind-pilot constraint: surface ≥2 plausible silent-key candidates not in this tracker that survive triage.

Blind-pilot calibration condition (S1): ≥2 plausible candidates not in tracker that survive triage. Three surface; all three pass. Calibration condition met.
1c. Pilot conclusion
Both pilots pass. The protocol's wording (as drafted in AUDIT_PLAN v1.3 Phase 0b §1) works without revision. Phase 0b can now commit the silent-key scan wording to CLAUDE.md (paired with the motifs.md Directory Conventions reference, after Phase 3).
A note on calibration: Eye and Mind's validation produced 3 candidates including the known target — surplus over the minimum (1 pre-named target). PhP's blind pilot produced 3 candidates, surplus over the minimum (≥2). The protocol does not over-fire: all six candidates survive the triage in §3 below, with no false positives needing rejection. This is a stronger pilot result than the audit plan required.
2. Items 3–7 (post-pilot scans)
With pilots passed, the remaining priority sources were scanned with the now-validated protocol. Constraint at each: candidates must not be in the source's motif tracker or primary-concepts list.
2a. V&I (working notes especially)

The 2026-04-21 re-ingest already surfaced rose, soil/Boden, third-domain, en filigrane, οὔτις, middle voice. A fresh silent-key scan would risk recovering already-tracked terms. Skipped this audit run; flagged for next audit.

4. Cross-source motif observation (preview of Phase 3)
Three of the silent-key findings cluster around the matrix / receptacle / opening figure across MP, Kaushik, and Carbone:
- Initiation (V&I): "the opening of a dimension that can never again be closed, the establishment of a level"
- Khôra (Carbone 2015): "the Platonic third-component characterized as a matrix, receiving... the images"
- Matrixed ontology (Kaushik 2019, primary concept): the symbolic matrix as "ontological limit before formal ontology"
When wiki/motifs.md is built (Phase 3), the matrix / receptacle / level-opening cluster should be tracked as a corpus-level motif crossing primary-MP and two secondary sources. This is one of the value-cases for the cross-source motif index that AUDIT_PLAN Phase 3 codifies.
5. Phase 0b status
Phase 2 dual pilot complete and PASSED. Per AUDIT_PLAN v1.3 Phase 0b §1: the silent-key scan wording, as drafted in the plan, can be committed to CLAUDE.md Workflow: Ingest Pass 3 as Part C without revision. (Phase 3 motifs.md build is the remaining gate before the joint Phase 0b commit.)
Report produced under Phase 0a citation-traceability rule. All claims in §1–2 trace to grep counts on raw files (line numbers given), to readings of the named extraction notes, or to explicitly marked file inspections. §3 actions and §4 cross-source observation are the maintainer's synthesis.
